I don’t want to go down a rabbit hole of Claudio and Tilian, but around the GA:1 era the people who didn’t like Claudio were complaining about the same things, weird high voice with way too much vocal layering.

I don’t think size of fanbase equates to how good a singer is.

 

the over production of tilians voice with the constant 2 to 4 harmonies going on IS annoying when its used so often. definitely over produced. and at the worst of times its even grating. it always hs been to me. he just got a lot better at writing pop melodies lately. i got to where i really enjoyed them. but it took him too many albums to get there.

 

i hope they dont go and get just any helium voice singer from the scene that cant write a memorable melody. the scene is full of that.

 

Jon sounds so cool and groovy on Feels Bad Man

 

Those aren’t the things I’m complaining about though when it comes to Tilian’s voice

 

It’s weird because I felt like it was really overdone on AS, then IG felt like a great course correction, along with Mothership. It crept back in on ArSe, not too bad on Afterburner, but back in full force for this album.

 

Damn, this record is pretty good. Possibly the best Tillian record too?

Such a shame that Tillian had to fuck up but I’m very much down for Kurt to return to the fold.

 

I don’t think this comes even close to acceptance speech or instant gratification or mothership. Probably better than the last two, certainly more interesting. Andrews parts are really fantastic the more I listen.

 

Also I really think robbing Kurt of royal coda’s momentum by making him rejoin a band that kicked him out is not the move, regardless if they’ve moved on from all that drama. Same with asking Andrew to sacrifice eidola to take over dgd. The news that they’re auditioning new vocalists confirms they likely all feel the same, you’ve gotta imagine those convos were the first they had and if they’re auditioning people it’s just not happening.

 

I love Kurt. I don’t want him back in DGD. That Gold Necklace album is too fire.

 

Cream Of The Crop is such a good song, oh my god. I really wish they re-recorded this album with a different vocalist, because it would definitely be my favorite of the year without Til.

Like hell, hire Kellin Quinn on FeaturedX, he charges $900 a song, get him to rerecord every song. Boom, problem solved. I know Kellin would charge more for a full project like this, shush, it's a joke

 

Listened and yeah sucks Tilian is on it. There’s some great stuff here.

Any predictions for a potential new vocalist? No names come to mind but I'm also out of touch with the scene these days.

 

A song from this came on my daily mix and I really enjoyed it. Then I found out about the Tillian stuff…

kind of feel they should have git a new vocalist to record the parts.

Nate Barcalow is incredible,but his range is lower than Jonny, Kurt, Tilian, and Andrew.

I would love him in DGD though.

 

Andy Cizek of Makari could pull it off for sure.

are next level for this band imo

 

I think this is a blanket statement for this situation, but they should find someone who doesn’t sound exactly Tilian who can put their own style on the band’s sound and push things in a new directions.

I think this is their best album of this era, the instrumentals keep getting more fun and emotional and weirder record to record and I love that. Hope they can get someone who isn’t obsessed with reactionary dog whistling in their lyrics all the time and stick to the more fun aspects this band is best at.
