This is an important point. Still hoping they’ll do the right thing in this instance.

What's everyones opinions of those dudes Bryan and Matt (I Hate the Scene)?

Don’t know who they are and I’m guessing I’m better for it.

I Hate the Scene is their show I guess and they interview bands and stuff all the time and talk about the scene.

They're going live tonight to tell what they say are true stories about dgd. They've made some (additional) very serious claims about the band. I don't wanna post them here because I don't know if they're true or not and I don't want to ruin music for someone that might read the thread.

Apparently they've been around the band and seen some stuff firsthand. Again, I take everything with a grain of salt.

I'm intrigued, I'm gonna tune in for sure.

Sounds like they’re using DGD’s drama to drive engagement for their show, which rubs me the wrong way.

It's also worth mentioning that when they first kicked Jonny out, they wrote a massive post about how much of a piece of shit he is, including sleeping with underage fans...and then they invited him back and toured with him.

Understandable. They talk about everyone though it's not like they just pick bigger bands or the trending story.

I gave the album a listen. It’s hard not to admit the tilian stuff is painting my opinion here, but everyone in the band does an incredible job besides him. It’s the same old same old shit with him, mostly bad lyrics and the same kinds of melodies we’ve been hearing him do for six albums now. He actively drags down the rest which is awesome, super great instrumentation here especially guitar and bass, Andrew slides in quite well vocally (though at times it did just kind of sound like eidola when he was up) and mess is doing all kinds of interesting stuff with his parts. It’s way too long and has no right being 18 tracks, I got really bored toward the back half. Anyway this is obviously gonna be a hard one to ever come back to but with enough time passing and if they do the right thing and keep this fucker out of the band maybe in the distant future I’ll be able to listen with a different perspective. For now, you just can’t separate what happened with this albums release and because of that I’m just not as impressed as I probably would be otherwise. Although, allegations aside, I do think it would be time for a vocal shake up regardless and I mean beyond just throwing Andrew in every now and then, and I don’t think Andrew taking over full time would work since like I said his parts tend to just sound like Eidola and I love that band and would rather he do that as his main vocal gig, their album last year was phenomenal

I have no doubt that his fans believe that.

He strikes me as someone with an ego so big, gigantic isn’t even a proper word. Also strikes me as someone who only cares about himself, money, looks, and how many woman he can get with.
he could be obligated by contract to promote it.

I’m not a fan of Tillian’s voice to begin with but he sounds like an AI programmed to sound like Tillian on this. The super slick digital sounding layering sounds real bad.

It’s super similar across so many tracks too with the first few words layered then the last few just a single layer and then a chorus or pre chorus with more layering etc it’s so formulaic

Meh, I think his performance is pretty mid for them. It’s better than ArSe, not as good as Mothership. Everything else falls around the same for me. His melodies are fine, the layering isn’t as grating and lifeless sounding as the original Acceptance Speech. I think everything surrounding him is skewing how people are viewing his performance on the album, which is perfectly fine, but I don’t think most would be saying that at all if what he did didn’t come to light.

Yeah well what he did came to light and now people have a different perspective on his performances, that’s on him not us

Same. Half of it rules, a quarter of it is fine, the other quarter is the worst stuff the modern lineup has made though. I’d be fine never hearing Story of My Bros again.

the way JJ ends with Swallowed By Eternity and Have a Great Life reminds me A LOT of how ArSe ends with Bloodsucker and Evaporate.

    post RADICAL

Never been a fan of Tillian’s voice, honestly. Mess and the rest of the band are the only things that kept me engaged when listening to the album in full yesterday. The third vocalist is a good pivot but the band needs to go back to Kurt. Listened to the s/t album last night while driving and it’s still such a jam from start to finish and the songs weren’t so predictable.

I know we often circle back to that topic, but I think another reason their stuff started to get samey for me is the production. Even though Kris Crummett has been behind almost all of them, their albums up to DBMII sound distinctly different to each others in a way the more recent ones don't.

I think I finally have to unfollow the subreddit. Tons of “we have all made mistakes in life” and other “he’s gonna come back whether you like it or not” bullshit.

Like yeah, I’ve accidentally forgotten to get milk, but I can’t say I accidentally sexually assaulted someone?
