I got into DGD with Afterburner which I think has a decent amount of elements that set the songs apart. This album seems a bit too formulaic in that it's hard to not think this current song writing dynamic is leading to diminishing returns. Still lots of solid hooks. Not all the way through but that's my thoughts so far. Whether they get a new clean singer or let Andrew step in I think it will be good for the band. Only thing I won't be able to get past is taking their old singer back and putting him back out on the road near fans.

Ordered a vinyl (wayyy before any of the Tilian accusations came to life), still hasn’t shipped? Anyone else get there’s?

 

Who is this in reference to? Both Tilian & Jonny have been ex-communicated from the band, at least publicly. Kurt & Andrew are singing on this current tour, and both have clean histories as far as we're aware.

 

I think they're saying they won't be able to get past it IF they bring Tilian back.

 

i like songs on all the albums but i think stylistically with this album and the last they blossomed into something that is ALOT more consistently well written than AS through ArSe, the grasp of melody is head and shoulders above. (sidenote: i love the Kurt era too but the music and vibe was very different back then)

different strokes though. the band and will are prolific.

 

Kurt was always my favorite singer for this band. His range isn't the most impressive, but I always felt the emotion in his songs more. Also his lyrics are the least embarrassing of the three lol

The amount of fans asking for Tilian back on reddit has me thinking it's not so cut and dry. Tilian also retweeted the band's album release. Until the band announces a new permanent new lead I'm not assuming anything.

 

Yeah if betting odds for one way or the other were a thing with this, I would bet on Tilian coming back. People recently kicked out of bands don't promote the band's new releases on social media.

 

Well he's on the album and he's getting paid when people buy or stream it. I fully expected him to promote it. $

 

I mean, maybe I'm reading too much into the situation, but if I had been kicked out of a band, and they (and me too even) were gonna make royalties off it, I'd be petty enough to not want to shout about it from the mountaintops, especially since now every DGD megafan is going to take it as "OMG he's coming back, he shared it on instagram!1!1!" or however people type these days, I dunno, I'm old.

 

I’d put money on Tilian coming back. They would’ve kicked him already if they were planning to. I don’t think DGD believe he’s a danger to the fanbase (the victim was a Hinge date and stated she never disclosed that she was a fan). Tilian evidently believed that the encounter was consensual because of the absence of physical violence — sad to say, but lots of people think it’s normal to have to “convince” someone to have sex (an idea that has been reinforced again and again in mainstream media, hence the term “rape culture”). I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a wake up call for more than just Tilian.

DGD aren’t trying to set examples. This is just a bunch of 30yr old dudes from Sacramento trying to play music and make money. Are they going to do the morally correct and responsible thing? Probably fucking not, let’s be real.

 

They'd kick him out if they thought he'd be losing them money, and he probably would because a lot of people would ditch the band

 

Just can’t bring myself to care about this album and I feel bad because I want to hear Tim’s final work

 

I think the subreddit is a better barometer of their fans overall than here, and the overwhelming opinion there is they want him back. I do think it could come down to a strictly money decision. The band has been way more successful with him than they were before his era.

 

If you're posting on a DGD subreddit it's probably a self fulfilling prophecy but really hope 90% of the people in there don't talk to women

 

To be fair, a decent amount of the DGD twitter fandom is women, and it shocking how many of them brushed aside the allegations so quickly.

 

This whole situation (and seeing them on the last tour Tilian was on) made me realize how hard people go for this band. It’s to an unhealthy degree for A LOT of people.

If we put all the things that can be speculated aside and focus on this one thing that tilian did not deny happening & no one in the dgd camp can answer for.

Which is, that the woman from hinge said that she told tilian no multiple times AND she pushed his dick away several times while he continued on until he r*ped her.

No one in that camp can answer for that. If they truly believe that they can tell fans that he’s going to therapy for that and all is well, that’s scary, unsettling, wrong and fans should feel stupid. None of tilians obsessive fans have answered that either. I’ve asked for someone to explain to me how that incident isn’t rape and no one has. (Because no one can).

I think it's important to keep pointing out there are multiple allegations against him, not just the one he admitted to

 

of course, bc that IS rape. i hope my comments didn’t obscure that fact in any way, i was just pointing out that given the history of the band and mainstream culture, it’s not surprising that tilian wouldn’t have considered his actions to be rape and the band would likely just give him a time out and then bring him back. i mean, jonny craig raped a woman at knifepoint and DGD toured with him, what, seven years ago? doesn’t take a genius to figure out DGD and its fanbase are willing to look past a whole lot of violence against women

 

again the jonny thing timeline doesnt line up. allegations were after the band already cut ties the second time. someone correct me if im wrong it was several years later.

edit: yeah i checked. the 10 yr anniversary tour was late 2015 where they invited jonny to play. jonny allegations were in 2017 and 2019.

if they dont do the right thing with tilian they will deserve to lose their fanbase.

 

Oh yeah, I also fully expect his obsessive fans to have that mindset too.

I wonder if tilian gets paid for instrumental streaming?

ive been listening to a dl of the leak
