I really didn't care for the debut but this is a huge huge step up, good for them

 

Yeah after a few more listens it’s Arms Length for me.

 

This is really good. Parts of it remind me of the newest The World is a Beautiful Place album (in a very good way). The debut was okay but this takes them to a whole new level.

Just listened to this (and this band) for the first time, love it.

 

First time hearing this band. Really enjoying my first listen of this, great balance of math rock instrumentation and really catchy hooks.

 

Never listened to his band before. But I am 5 songs into it and have loved all of them so far. The chorus on “Talk Too Much” is soooo catchy.

 

Never listened to these before hut this is SO fucking good my god.

This is immediately in my top 5 of the year.

Concious Uncoupling, That’s Physics, Further, Talk Too Much, Comes In Waves, Swallows and Arms Length are all my favourites so far.

 

talk to much and swallows are top tier but this whole thing slays.

Well this album immediately became my favorite album out this year so far.

 

For some reason I kept thinking of the Ophelias while listening - similar kinetic energy, just applied to emo instead of folk

"Swallow" is the best song on here imo (also one of my favorite songs of the whole year)
I don't know what else I could want in a song! Love the way those tense 7/4 verses lead into a shiny chorus

also "Swallow" vocoder > "Bloom" by Great Grandpa vocoder hehe
same producer and idea but "Swallow" is way more dynamic, even though I love both songs

fwiw i invited a quirky indie music fan and a Paramore fan to the stream and they both loved it! I hope Pool Kids get as big as they want to be; the last crossover record to succeed this well (Foxing's Nearer my God) was still slightly too weird for the mainstream, but this deserves lots of alt radio play and Sirius XM love. Could even imagine them doing the late night circuit.

 

this and camp cope gonna be my soundtrack for summer i guess.

"couch" is one of my favorites lately

 

i can't stop listening to this thing! stoked to see them in a couple months in the back of a little restaurant haha

 

saw them open for IIOI and they were so dope! excited to dive into this one

 

how did I not know they were releasing new stuff? god damn
