Rotten Garden was a solid album from last year. I'll have to check this song out.

You know what, I need to listen to more metal at work. I work from home and fuck around most of the time anyways. What's my excuse?

Confession time: I have never heard a full Amon Amarth or Obituary album. Which album should I start with for both? I just know that for Obituary, most people only like the first three albums and the song Redneck Stomp.

Never listened to Yashira before, but just got around to Fail to Be after I saw Riley from Thrice included it among his favorite 2020 albums and this album rips

Cause of Death is one of the greatest death metal albums ever

More hard rock than Metal but I like the sound kind of a mix between 70's and 90's and love the theme:

Amon Amarth - With Oden on Our Side or Twilight of the Thunder Gods.
Obituary - Cause of Death (peep the newsletter next week)

I honestly was never really able to get into the vocals of Obituary, for as legendary as they are.

We should list more bands we've never listened to and post a good starting point! Now I just have to think of some good ones

I respect Amon Amarth and know they are considered one of the THE death metal bands but I can't get into them. It just feels like their albums sort of bleed together, especially their last few.

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

Amon Amarth - I'd honestly start with Versus The World and work my way forward. All of their material is great and consistent IMO though so you can't go wrong.

Obituary - Seconding Cause of Death and Slowly We Rot - those are in a tier of their own compared to the rest of their discography.

The Viking aspect of it is fine but it’s just the same songs, which some are pretty corny imo. To those that like it, that’s great.

Thanks for the recommendation guys. I have heard at least 10 scattered Amon Amarth songs by them and I never felt strong emotions. There were a few songs that had some riffs but I never sat down with a project front to back. I've heard a few Obituary songs but the only one I remember is Chopped in Half, which is fun.

I'll be getting to it in the next coming weeks. I'm peeping albums for artists that are playing Fire in the Mountains but I will check it out with you otherwise.

Holy shit are you doing Fire in the Mountains? I'd love to do that. Seems like it would be a blast.

Yeah, I went 2018 and 2019. It was a blast both times. Having a rainstorm and then a rainbow appearing over the pit during The Ruins of Beverast will always be in my mind.

The lineup is stacked this year too and will have two stages instead of one.

Imo, Amon Amarth hasn’t put out a legit great album since Twilight Of The Thunder God and while the stuff since isn’t that bad, it’s just not as good either.
