looking forward to seeing them support Biffy Clyro in November

yeah i don't have much positive to say about this, unfortunately. i'm down for a more anthemic/melodic/rock-oriented sound but this is so melodically boring. in many instances just a re-tread of the last single. they've already kind of done the perfect version of this sound with 'animals' so i feel they're capable of more. i'm sure the album will have songs i love though.

i'm also not sure why they've decided to abandon their trend of having gorgeous album art.

....or gorgeous sounding heavy songs like Naysayer. I guess Tom was the only one who could write good riffs.

I don’t hate the song, I think reactions are overblown but this doesn’t quite hit the way the singles from the past three albums have. I’ll give the band a chance, they have credits in the bank… hell I’ve already preordered the vinyl

  12. I have the same problem with this single as I have with "when we were young". They implemented a new formula on the last release and, despite the narrow soundscape they were working within, I mostly didn't any issues telling the songs apart.

Now, from one new song to another, it feels like they're self-recycling, down to the riffs and vocal melodies. It's all starting to sound the same. That said, I like the chunky Rammstein-like main riff. I just wish a more interesting song was built around it.

I remember having similar gripes when they went from Daybreaker to Lost Forever // Lost Together and then to All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us, so it's a bit funny to be there... complaining about the same thing again, except they ditched their previous style and now sound like a completely different band.

They are too far down the Parkway Drive rabbit hole and they need to be rescued.

I mostly liked the last album but I’m absolutely not into either of these new ones. The hooks and riffs just aren’t hitting.

This could be huge on rock radio. That's really all I can say about it.

I hear every complaint in the thread so far and sort of agree, while still liking the song?

It’s very similar to WWWY, which hurts because that song is a banger and this one isn’t quite. I liked Animals when I first heard it and didn’t love it until I heard it in the context of the record and REALLY loved the Amazon/orchestra version. Would love to see more melodic stuff like that on here.

I trust them to deliver the goods.

  17. I trust this band but so far it's 0/2 on having the singles click with me and if that is the artwork I'm not feeling it much either. Still eagerly anticipating new Architects!

It definitely sounds like they're trying to maximize their accessibility, and to someone else's point... there's no way this won't be big on rock radio.

I feel like Parkway Drive actually does this style well and makes it interesting.

That's funny, I'm the exact opposite. Imo these guys do a much better job at the radio hard rock direction than Parkway Drive.

As a card-carrying radio rock fan, the evil part of me is maliciously gleeful that all your favorite bands will eventually be mine.

Everyone knew this was the direction Architects would continue in after FTTWTE went #1 in certain regions. Anyone who was expecting anything similar to the heaviness of Lost Forever or All Our Gods was delusional and taking bong rips off some fleeting copium.

This is who Architects are now. Expect one or two riffs, a tight three minute song, and songwriting centered around singalong choruses, ultimately meticulously designed for Sirius FM Octane radio plays and streaming.

Hell, they’re so “in it for the bag” they decided slapping some edgy font on a whitish background would pass as an album cover. All this said, I actually like the new songs - they KNOW what they’re doing, it just seems… so half-assed almost?

I just find it interesting because LFLT, All Our Gods, and Holy Hell are what shot them to this level and “fame” so why do they feel the need to change their sound so drastically
