Self checkout is cool if I don’t have that much stuff. Sometimes I don’t feel like interacting with people so it’s nice. The Walmart Neighborhood Market I do my quick trips is self checkout only, which is pretty weird. I prefer WINCO for my big shopping trips where I have a cashier, but have to bag my own groceries. I don’t like people bagging my stuff because they do it wrong half of the time, which is totally understandable considering they are usually rushing.

 

Covid has made me do larger grocery runs to avoid going multiple times a week. Also having kids makes me stock up on a lot of easy snacks.

 

Why am I just learning that Gavin Newsom was married to Kimberly Guilfoyle?

 

Yes….my kids….that’s why I buy so many snacks….

 

but they get paid the same, right? so aren’t you just giving them extra work they have to do?

 

How am I giving them extra work? You mean on top of the cashing and bagging they're already doing? I've been a bagger before, mind you. It's boring with nothing to do.

 

A lot of self-checkouts that I try to use malfunction and it is really fucking annoying. They tell me it is user error but they are wrong and stupid.

 

I’ll use self checkout if I have a few items. My grocery runs are more often than not large these days, so I prefer the cashier.

I’d much rather a store have all cashiers instead of all self check out tbh

 

I use self check out all the time but the general public is too dumb for them. When I worked at Target, I couldn’t tell you how many people asked me how to pay. You click the button that takes up the entire bottom corner and says “PAY”.

 

Idk. If you think they’d rather be scanning your groceries than sitting there doing nothing maybe you’re right? I had figured they’d prefer the later

Probably depends on the person I guess, but if I'm not doing anything at work, I'm bored out of my mind, and I will find work if I have to.

At any rate, I'm not making my life decisions around whether or not it means someone gets paid to do nothing.

 

I’m at the grocery store at least 5 times a week. The only time I use a big shopping cart is right after I move into a new place and I need to stock up my kitchen

I’m unsure people are ready for how transphobic 2024 is going to be if he runs. He’s clearly testing and believes this is a winning issue for him.

 

I tend to buy less than a dozen stuff at a time and it’s usually something I just ran out of (even non-food stuff like TP, paper towel, bathroom essentials) as well as produce because I like things fresh plus I live with my girlfriend so I pick up stuff for her or the both of us.

 

sometimes self checkout is really nice and helpful but it's not meant for a full cart of groceries and it's obvious they're using them to hire less people so the line for self checkout is half an hour and it's miserable for everyone but the corporation saves money so who cares right
