Technically, the "platinum seating" is not scalping since it's not resale. It's essentially the algorithm saying "Oh shit, this section is in demand thus we can charge more". What IS absurd is when it's a fully GA show and there are "platinum" seats.

Yep, got posted a couple weeks ago unless it's a new leg.

Does the hardcore community really fuck with Movements that hard? Somebody make it make sense

Platinum for Dance Gavin Dance has fluctuated between $54 and $202 for their NYC show that's GA lol

I somehow missed that Movements tour. Might go for the three openers. That is a stacked line-up!

For the Swedish House Mafia tour there was a point that Platinum tickets were the same price as regular ones. I just checked and saw resale tickets cheaper than regular tickets lol

No way that Swedish House Mafia tour even gets off the groud.

It’s absolutely being cancelled. There’s no way they’re going to play to 3-4K people every night. The Gorillaz tour looks in trouble too.

SHM should have done amphitheaters. You can easily upgrade the lawn and make it look more full. Arenas there is nowhere to hide.

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

I looked into tickets for the LA shows and was astounded how many tickets haven’t sold. I don’t even know why they added a 2nd date. Did Gorillaz really lose their appeal the past few years? This seems really unusual for them

Edit: Actually, night one sold pretty good but there’s still a lot of tickets for night 2 available. My point still stands tho

The Gorillaz tour has the upper decks closed in almost all the arenas, not much being sold with what’s left either.

Gorillaz always struck me as a "tick-box" band. The kind of band people might see once and never bother seeing live again unless they happen to be at the same festival.

Lotta ampitheater/arena tours struggling. Black Keys at Jones Beach (market #1) you can buy like 8th row seats for face value.

I have a lot of friends that used to attend EDM fests all the time (some still do on occasion) and pretty much everyone said tix are way too pricey for the arena tour and that they wouldn't really bother seeing SHM unless they were at a festival.

I'm sure majority of people feel the same way.

Lots of nostalgia acts who do the annual summer shed tours are just not able to fill the seats with how high ticket prices have become. They’re usually acts people have seen before and wouldn’t feel bad about skipping this summer.

For me, the biggest hold-up with amphitheater shows isn't even the ticket price. It's the ticket price coupled with the fact that the venue is always 1+ hour away and the shows start fairly early so if you want to eat dinner at home it's early... And then there's all of the "hidden" costs (e.g., gas for the car, food/drinks during the show, price of parking).

So you're looking at 2+ hours in the car and on top of the pricey tickets an additional $100+ between gas, parking, and food. And that's a super conservative estimate.

Generally not worth the time and/or total unless I want to see all of the acts on the bill or it's somebody I haven't seen before.

I've heard at least a few friends mention something similar about how the value just isn't there for the ticket prices at this point. (Then again, I also have a few friends who are going to what feels like an obscene number of larger shows this summer trying to "make up for lost time").

Another I'm noticing just from looking at setlists and such, sets aren't really getting longer to help make it more palatable.

This is probably why the 3EB/TBS tour is struggling

My wife and I usually go to about 10 shows each summer but this year's lineup was only about 6-7 (and 4 of them were in June!). Finances played a part, but mostly because this year's summer tours aren't that enticing. And we definitely would've gone to the TEB/TBS tour if they had a damn Florida date.

Yeah also road trip shows are OUT THE WINDOW. Living in Nashville, I used to travel to at least one show a year for Louisville, Atlanta, Cincinnati but I can’t even think about that now with this gas prices

It's weird because ticket prices are substantially less for the 3EB/TBS tour than the 3EB/JEW tour in 2019, and that tour sold pretty well from what I remember.

I think the 3EB/JEW tour was just a stronger pairing overall in terms of value-add for the fans. The overlap between 3EB and JEW fans is probably much bigger than 3EB and TBS. I'd imagine people who are just into TBS are probably sitting this one out.

I also think 2019 is very different in terms of what people are willing to spend money on compared to 2022.

In terms of shows, I've had to cut a lot because of high gas prices because I live 1-2 hours away from virtually ever major market. I don't blame people sitting out Third Eye Blind / Taking Back Sunday - a pair of bands who tour on their own so regularly. I still might go on Saturday, just depends on what Stubhub is looking like.
