I absolutely get the complaints about the production on the album. It works for me and perhaps that’s because I’ve listened to the album a countless amount of times that I can’t hear it in another context, but I appreciate the charm of it against these complex alt rock/prog/post hardcore/whatever songs

it ultimately works for me too bc it ends up sounding like the most ambitious scene album ever made lol

The production isn’t my favorite but something about the snare just works for me

No doubt SSTB production holds it back just that little bit, but by god there's some legendary songwriting that completely overcomes it.

People on Reddit have contacted support and seem to get quick responses back, wouldn’t hurt to message them.

The production always stood out to me about SSTB and each time I listen to it as the years go on it stands out more and more but idk by now I’m so used to it that it almost seems unique or maybe so… idk, comforting? Hard to explain but the production / feel of the album always takes me way back to when I first heard it and that’s nice so I appreciate it for sounding like it does

I find myself listening to the Neverender SSTB recording than actual SSTB. So damn good.

Story spoilers for those who follow the story
Seems like next album will have some ties to the Afterman albums because Sirius Amory returns at the end of the album

genuinely curious: do most fans of this band care about the storyline at all?

    definitely not

its an interesting extra layer to learn about after listening to the songs, but i've never went out of my way to read any of the books or comics

I like that it exists but I don’t follow it at all. It’s too hard to follow/keep up with

I think what makes it difficult to follow is that a lot of details from the story don’t make their way into the albums because the music comes first obviously. Also, Claudio has rebooted the series a couple of times and there have been delays for years when it comes to the GA albums so it’s tough to really stay attached when it took over a decade to properly release the story for GA1 and they still haven’t released NWFT yet 15 years after the album’s release

100% this. I like knowing that it’s there, and I like that the album sounds like it’s happening in space. Only mildly interested in details.

    yeah good okay Prestigious

I like stuff "like man your own jackhammers!" because it sounds awesome asf but the other stuff about a bicycle being a demon and the Pryse and a white woman hating serial killer are kinda eh

Haha, it's a fun exercise to think about what the coolest sounding song/lyrics are that are story related but you have no idea what they mean. I'm going to just say the NWFT title track. The "call to arms" style song is cool, and IKS does it similarly, but on NWFT there's less cutting of babies' throats.

I think the song suites and frequent musical callbacks are a direct result of there being a story, and that's one of my favourite parts of their music, despite not always knowing what the callbacks symbolize story-wise.

Actually this might be my favorite lyrics that I have no idea what they mean, I just love the melody and think it sounds cool.

"As father told son, in the make of his final escape
    Should all good boys die
With God at their side at the grace of His gates?

    No, the Robot holds none
With a mind and a heart to comply
Then I will disguise and grieve of those dead
    When I'm given the time"
