Sort of off topic but does anyone know the name of the actress who played the girl of interest in the video for Timberwolves at New Jersey? I only ask because I met my cousin's fiancee for the first time yesterday and I'm convinced that was her.

I feel like 'I was in a music video for a major label rock band' is a good conversation starter. Just ask?

Related: I've always thought that this was the best song on TAYF. And that 'Great Romances of the 20th Century' is the second best song. Those were always the standouts to me, and there wasn't even a question in my mind.

So the fact 'Cute Without the E' and 'You Know How I Do' and 'You're So Last Summer' seem to be everyone's favorite from that album is just baffling. I just never understood it. I mean, there isn't a bad song on TAYF; I like all of them. But 'Timberwolves' and 'Romances' are just perfect. They should be the songs everyone knows that album by.

Does anybody else get a Weezer vibe from 'Holy Water' ?

I think they picked the three best songs to release before hand, I love the opening three tracks the most I think. I wanted to listen to this multiple times before I said anything but I think they is one of their best for sure. The closer is great but I still think their best closer goes to either Everything Must Go or Call Me in the Morning. It'll be cool in 4 more years or so to see how they try to top this.

Really? "Cute" has attained status as representative of that whole era, but "Romances" and "Timberwolves" always seem to be among the TAYF favorites of the big TBS fans I know.

Okay, yeah, I'm obsessed with this album -- can't stop listening to it, don't skip any songs, and I tend to restart it as soon as it finishes. Ignoring the nostalgia of Tell All Your Friends, this is their best record.

Agreed. I think Cute and Timberwolves will always be staples in the live set until they end.

I like this album but I don't think it's amazing. I haven't loved an album of theirs since 2011

Am I the only one who thinks Homecoming should have been the closer?

I love I'll Find A Way, but I think I would have put that 2nd to last.

    THIS.

It's what I've been missing about them since their first three albums so much. Happiness Is had a little bit of it (Flicker, Fade, We Were Younger Then) but most of the songs on Tidal Wave capture that early magic and energy and climaxes.

  19. Holy crap. Listening for my first time right now. "In the Middle of it All" was so incredible, as is "We Don't Go in There," which I'm still in the middle of. I'm so in on this record--the very first TBS record I've ever purchased--even though there have been a few tracks I haven't cared for (especially "Holy Water").

I feel like those two songs, in the order they're in, flow perfectly. I have a hard time imagining them not together - they seem like a giant 9 minute song to me. And I love when bands do that; my favorite records flow well enough I don't want to break them up into playlists. TBS hasn't ever really had that, in my mind - they've always been a band that you can piece out their stuff and it doesn't impact anything.

This record is different - I think it really flows into a cohesive stretch of music.

  21. Technically "I'll Find a Way" is second-to-last, at least on the CD. I'm not that far on the album yet, but I've got an untitled hidden track. But I just heard "Homecoming" for the first time and it was pretty remarkable. Although I do also love how "Homecoming" flows seamlessly into "Find."

I get "Only In Dreams" vibes from that song especially once the whole band kicks in so I love it as the closer.
