We're actually changing up our normal cycle and doing a Halloween themed compilaton for October. THEN an artist tribute in November and Songs of 2016 for December. I've never been a huge AM! fan but I always find a few songs I really, really like on each album.

I put together a playlist of "horror/spooky" inspired songs... lots of metal/hard rock mostly. Might tackle a classic like Raining Blood or Master of Puppets but if I do, I'll probably program those drums, haha!

Wish I could do this song but I don't think I could play that guitar solo in a million years (@ about the 1:30 mark). I could fake it for Raining Blood but I'd have to spend all month just tabbing this out. Haha

@bradsonemanband - i good start and intro to the comp. reading from your responses in thread seemed like it was pulled together quickly but i think it gets the comp going on the right foot.

@bertobro - damn, fuck me up with this. it's different in a delightful way. Great production throughout and nice clean vocals. nice interpretation of the song.

@elemenohpe - voice remind of a lot of music i grew up listening to. the guitar and the urgency/punch in the vocals gave it a different feel than original, which is interesting in its own right.

@angelpaste - Okay, i was totally floored by this cover, easily a top contender for me on the comp. So interesting and so unique from the original. Felt like I floating in a melancholy parallel universe. you took something and totally made it your own and i always have to respect that, especially when it turns out to be really damn good.

@InfiniteArms-Your voice is quite deep which brings something different to the table for this song. The tonality is so nice and i actually really enjoy it in the context of the song. i think the original is quick to phrases, and there's a much more sense of desperation in the vocals. yours are more of a softer approach and the meaning of the song seems to take on a different tone. I

@Things So Impossible-This was really good too. Good production. I like your voice and you reached some really great notes. i like the fullness in it.

Your cover was so good and thank you. read what i said about yours in my other post!

Thanks although i felt like my vocals were kinda meh this cover. Appreciate the compliment though

lol ive been to a sainsbury's too, surely that counts for something. I felt a bit meh on this one, as something with more energy or excitable is a bit out of my vocal comfort zone. seriously since i have such a small and whispery voice. but i like the song and its for fun, so gave it a go.

Thanks so much! I'll try. I'll probably do the Halloween comp!

Cool, i usually goo way more reverb/atmospheric on songs but i tried to tone it down some in this song, wanted to make it a little more clear in delivery but still try to have some atmospheric sound to it. glad it was able to portray that some.

Wow cool thanks so much. glad you like it enough to listen to it multiple times!

Thanks, appreciate it! this was out of my comfort zone vocal wise cause i know the original vocals have a lot more energy to it but i like how you described it as a juxtaposition

    Stats so far!

    9 full downloads
    1,444 individual song plays

Bertbro is currently in the lead with 233 of those plays, while the rest of us are in the 160-190 range. Good job @bertbro at kicking our asses this month! :-)

My favorite part about these compilations isn't actually the songs themselves. I really love reading everyone's reviews of everyone's songs. Everyone is so kind, flattering, and supportive, and I think that's what keeps everyone coming back to do more. Everyone makes everyone else feel good, and that's really cool! You don't see a lot of that on the internet anymore, especially in message board type websites. Thanks for being good people!

Another one of my favorite things is reading about how everyone picked their songs, how they recorded them, the inspiration behind them, etc. It's so interesting to me.

All of you are awesome. Thanks for being so cool and keeping this alive. Can't wait for the next compilations!

    RIP EmoPunkKid28: 2002-2016 Prestigious

Standouts for me were definitely @bertbro and @Things So Impossible Great voices! Vocals on robbers have a cool tone to them, really dig it. Great job, overall! I'm too embarrassed to do another comp after my Yellowcard cover was never completed on time :tear:

  13. Awesome job on The 1975 comp, everyone! I'm bummed that I haven't had time to contribute to one of these recently, but wanted to let you all know that I've listened to each one and you all continue to kill it :-)

    done and done.

I'll probably pick another song sometime this weekend and try to bang it out next week.

  17. my plan is to do at least one song, and maybe 2 or 3 interlude "songs." I have some ideas... ;-)

  18. Wait, so I think I missed something by just sorta skimming. Is the Halloween comp happening now? Or is there still going to be a vote for a tribute?

  19. Halloween is happening for sure, but won't be officially announced until Thursday.
November will be a tribute comp that we will vote.
December will be "Best of 2016"

Should we just start calling out songs? Everyone knows what the comp is anyway.

  22. I'm on the fence with that idea. On one hand, I want to give The 1975 comp at least another day to sink in, but on the OTHER hand, I'm really excited to announce the song that I am covering. In fact, I just finished recording it. I'm lookin' at you, @elemenohpe !!!

Sort of unrelated; I was watching the new NCIS and it had The 1975 playing at the beginning, and It was The Sound and I got disappointed because it wasn't the version @bertbro made.

I want to do Devil Town by Daniel Johnston for the Halloween comp so bad. Hopefully I can find the time to do it.
