First listen here we go. That Old Flames callback and now Beautiful Losers, off to a great start.

    No Fun. Not Ever.

I also really love the short spoken word bit in Window of the Waking Mind.

I'd like less auto tune as well.

yeah this is great from first listen. i'm sure it'll keep growing on me like vaxis I did too. only complaints: too much autotune and not enough long, proggy songs.

I think this starts with the weakest couple tracks and pretty much rocks from Shoulders onward , which is very strange for a Coheed album

Only on Disappearing Act so far but holy shit this is so good so far.

The Embers of Fire honestly made me want to charge straight through a cement wall. Fantastic opener.

two listens down, not necessarily interested in ranking it within the discog yet but, this feels pretty easily like their best work since maybe NWFT? I have always thought you could make one good album out of both Afterman's, and even then, meh... , and this is already way better than Vaxis I.

makes me even more excited to see them next month.

Window of the Waking Mind is some serious rock opera / musical shit.

As a grown up theater kid, I AM HERE FOR ITTTTTTT

We reach for the longest shadow

I feel compelled to say this too. I'll wait to say that its the "best" since then, but I do think it's the most cohesive and well realized front to back.

I feel its a big stretch to say this is way better than Vaxis I.

God damn this was great. I think A Disappearing Act and the closer were the highlights for me, but I'm ready to jump into listen #2.

We reach for the longest shadow

I think The Dark Sentencer is the only thing on Vaxis I that reaches the same highs as this does. Vaxis I also has more clunkers in my eyes. I'm going to enjoy an album more if I enjoy every song than if there are more songs but some I don't like very much.

I never knew how bad I needed a dance rock record from Coheed until A Disappearing Act. I know this might be blasphemy in some circles, but feed me more. Love this album!

Interesting. Thought you loved vaxis I.

I think sentencer, love protocol, all on fire, gutter, and walks among us are just as good as anything on vaxis 2.

I do, and the ones you highlighted are some of my favorites, but I also dislike the title track, Toys, True Ugly, and Lucky Stars more than anything off of Vaxis II. I'm definitely a full album person, so when fat (in my eyes, I know others feel differently about the ones I mentioned) is trimmed, it makes me enjoy an album way more.

    Got it. That’s fair.

Helps that I consider that fat of vaxis 1 is at the very end (flames and stars) where the fat here is more choppy in the middle (blood, love)

I'll gladly say Vaxis I is way better than this, though.
