I think most people don't care because they weren't successful, which bolsters the point that they don't actually understand what happened, or the scope and magnitude of it.

In some ways it's similar to everything that has happened over the past 50 years to undermine Roe. Most people didn't care because it was still there as a backstop (in most cases, at least for well-to-do white people) and didn't realize it would eventually collapse.

Here most people think the system held up so everything is fine, there's nothing to see here, but don't realize how close it was to collapsing.

 

Some of us are really good at pretending that if we don't see something it doesn't exist, especially in New York where guns aren't part of the culture unless you hunt

 

I think a lot of people like concealed too for anxiety purposes. I know personally I’m more on edge seeing someone openly touting a handgun

 

yet another example of the 2nd amendment being a womens rights issue

 

I just think it's neat that I now have to worry about which unstable nutjobs are carrying guns while I do my grocery shopping.

you're not going to stop people from smoking, you're just going to make them go to other means to get their fix and make them fucking hate you. biden already has a lower approval rating than trump ever did. i don't think pissing off potential voters before a mid term by throwing out some pointless measure that will just make people's lives worse is the move! lots of other, more important shit he could be focusing on

 

I also just find it frustrating that there is effectively a right to privacy when it comes to whether you're carrying a gun, but not over what you choose to do with your own body (unless you're a cishet white man).

 

you cannot smoke cigs because it's bad for you and we know what's best for you better than you do but you of course can carry a murder weapon around anywhere you want

But I also think a big part of this is about preventing people from starting smoking in the first place, which I hope we can agree is important and a good thing whether or not we agree that this action would do anything regarding that

i mean i agree it's good to stop people from smoking, but if someone wants to smoke a cigarette after a long day at work who am i to tell them no? it's not my life.

I’d love to meet the person that is like “well I was going to start smoking but then they lowered the nicotine level in cigarettes so I decided not to”

 

if you want to stop people from smoking you need to make an ad of the biggest nerd ever smoking a cig, make it not cool anymore to blast cigs.
