Watching the JBB Anthropophagous ep tonight. Should give me an idea about some of the flicks I ordered. “Monster Hunter” is a quasi-sequel that apes Halloween, apparently

  2. Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker is fucking wild. Man. Shades of Psycho and Misery with a dash of Carrie and F13.

First time I've correctly guessed both movies!

  5. Got some horror-y dvds from Big Lots for $3-5ea., a couple of which I hadn't seen yet. Horns was actually really good. And like, even darker than I expected. Got some really cool visual effects. Radcliffe isn't nearly as unhinged here as he is in The Lost City, Swiss Army Man, or Guns Akimbo (which are all admittedly much more comedic), but he does really good here.

  8. The Guest was actually a bit more action-thriller-y than horror-y, but still a good time. I think the only other thing I've seen Dan Stevens in is Legion, so this was fun. Kinda crazy Maika Monroe was in It Follows right after this? Very different tonally but still so suspenseful. Should seek out more of her stuff.

Back to a point with my d*pression and watching movies isn’t clicking, but I have been able to binge Stranger Things season 1-3. Very into the body horror of season 3.

Did Cannibal Man this weekend and was surprised to see absolutely no cannibalism at all.

Well, maybe the faintest hints of it but this was definitely a translated title.

  15. I don't think I've seen anyone who's seen it post about Crimes of the Future in here. I liked it.

  16. It didn't come to my Cinemark. So disappointed. I've heard almost exclusively positive things.

Crimes of the Future and Watcher aren't playing anywhere near me :(

  18. Oculus. Probably mid-tier Flanagan film, by which I mean it's still pretty darn good, though I do think he's making better stuff now on Netflix than he did with Blumhouse. This movie took a bit to get going but really picked up towards the end. Standout performances from Katee Sackhoff, Karen Gillan, and Annalise Basso. Nice to see some visual motifs that show up in Flanagan's later works.

Spotted in behind the scenes feature: Flanagan in a Doctor Who shirt, Kate Siegel as a ghost.

Having a great time with The Quarry, speaking of horror games. Anyone else playing it?

  20. Okay, maybe more than a couple.

The Raven. A bit more murder mystery than horror. A bit boring. The women in this movie didn't really do much. Seeing re-imaginations of iconic Poe imagery was cool enough, though.

I was under the impression it was coming to Gamepass, so was a little disappointed to find I got that wrong. Keen to line it up as a horror game for October though (a long standing tradition), so good to see The Quarry is reviewing well!

Been a long time since I've *really* enjoyed a horror game. I tried The Medium last year and lost interest around the halfway mark. Subnautica is probably the closest thing to a horror game that has blown me away in recent years.

Skipped The Boy because I heard it was straight trash. Buttttttt watched the second one because I think RLM talked about how fucking bonkers it was. Such a bizarre movie. lol. Not good by any stretch but the places it goes are so wild, especially in comparison to the first.

Yeah, The Quarry is a lot fun. Will have great replay value. I'm interested in The Medium but I'm waiting for a big price drop on it. I tried Subnautica but I just can't play it, too much anxiety haha

I tried getting my girlfriend to play Until Dawn, but her patience waned very very quickly. I think it was the psychiatry stuff. Def excited to dig into The Quarry. Probably when it hits discount lol.
