Finished my first watch after about a year of watching through the series . I liked - didn’t love - it. I will spoiler the rest of my thoughts because I know some folks are watching it.

The ending sequence in the diner is absolute genius. The extended cut to black is pure chef’s kiss.

Seeing Bobby eat it bummed me out. What a pure soul who got caught up in the life. But at least his final thoughts were about his hobby: toy trains.

Tony plugging Chris’ nose will forever haunt my dreams. I get why he did it, but fuck - what an intense decision that held a ton of weight.

 

Why did you like but not love it?

 

I found some of it to be very meandering and felt like fluff. Mostly looking at the Soprano children’s middle seasons story lines. That said - AJ’s in season six was great and moving.

BTW - totally cool with any mega fans telling me their stories were important for XY and Z. Maybe I missed something, but I personally didn’t care about Meadow in college and Finn (except the Vito reveal that had some fallout) and angsty AJ - though that did have some payoff in season 6

 

isabella is one of the two season one episodes im not over the moon about lol

 

Haha really!? Huge things went down in that episode! I'm officially moving onto season 2.

 

i just do not like the isabella plot lol. the rest is awesome

 

My take is that s1 is a skip on my re watches. I know most will disagree. The show really finds it’s footing in the later half of s2 onward.

 

Season One and Two are definitely weaker, but Livia is such a standout that you can't miss it.

S1 is way more sitcom than the rest but it’s a lot of fun still

 

S1 and 2 kinda act like skeleton keys for the rest

 

Richie just died and I couldn’t be fucking happier!!!!

 

I adore S1 and S2 hah

 

Loving the dynamic between Junior and Tony. Excited to see where it goes in S3.

 

Bada Bing’s bartender gets absolutely fucked like every episode Lmao. My man sounds so nice!

I refuse to watch that until I’m done with the series lmao. Just started season 5!

 

S5E11: the test dream has been my least favorite episode up to this point. Felt pretty lazy and uninspired, IMO. It reminded me a lot of the dream scenes in Rescue Me.

 

i think this is mostly an unpopular opinion, but, i agree. always skip it on my re-watches.
