Hey all. First time poster, long time reader of this site. Wanted to get involved. Seemed appropriate for my first post to be about my favorite band, Yellowcard. Like many of you I'm sure, I've been with them since the Ocean Avenue release all those years ago and have had the pleasure of being around for their incredible run ever since. I count myself among those that feels like each record they put out has been a soundtrack of sort to each step in my life.Definitely am bummed that it's coming to an end, but how lucky we are to not only have such a solid discography, but a final record and world tour where it really looks like they are putting everything they have into making it as good as it possibly can be and giving everyone a chance at a proper goodbye. It's a rare thing. Very excited to see the setlist.

I also have to just say how much I respect them since coming back from the hiatus. Cranking out 6 records ( including OA acoustic and WYTTYS acoustic) and just a ridiculous amount of touring as they built back up in the last 6 years is something that is easily taken for granted, but not lost amongst me. Especially when you consider the challenges they have had in their personal lives.

For me, I still can't quite put my finger on my overall feelings on Lift a Sail. I appreciated them branching out. Southern Air was just perfect and I don't think that they could push that sound any further. Lift a Sail does have some standouts to me, including "Transmission Home"(honestly one of my favorite yellowcard songs, ), "Illuminate", "Fragile & Dear"(that violin solo will take you to another world), "The Deepest Well", and "California". However, try as I might, I never could get into the rest of the record. The overall flow of the record just didn't vibe with me and seemed confusing , if not incoherent.

With that said, I am really looking forward to this album. Lost in all of the end-of-the-band talk, I am digging the two tracks they have released so far. "The Hurt is Gone" especially has grown on me and is the kind of sound I wish they had explored more on LaS. Here's to hoping they knocked it out of the park.

    Great first post!

I can't believe how close we are to this record.

Said I'm okay, but I know how to lie.

Both songs have grown on me so much, didn't have this with Lift a Sail. Especially "Rest In Peace".

I thought The Hurt is Gone was great the first time I heard it. Maybe a little long. I really like long, varied, epic songs but that one just doesn't really seem to do anything with it's length. Regardless, I really like it. Rest in Peace I like; don't love it yet. That said, both did more for me on first listen than anything on Lift a Sail does for me now. Really looking forward to this album.

Rest in Peace has grown on me a huge amount, now I think it's absolutely among their best songs

"Rest in Peace" just gets better and better. The perfect mission statement for this record.

Definitely took some time to sink into me, but now I just want to play it every day. But I have to resist temptation so it works in context.

I can't wait to hear some of the sounds from this new record. Even some clips would be awesome sometime over the next week. I wonder if we'll get a stream at the end of this week as well.

Rest in Peace just has this really interesting blend to it that works really well and is totally different then past work they've done when you listen closely. Ryan's low pitch on the verses coupled with just the acoustic guitar really allows the emotion/tone of song to pop. Likewise, the key of "C" tuning really gives Mendez's flair in his riffs a strong edge. The little things like these make a big difference for me. My favorite part of the song is the outro after the solo. It has all of the strengths of this band just grooving together in harmony in a way that I haven't heard since Southern Air.

Lowborn also leaked a month early since they pushed it back a month but a few places like amazon or someone sent out digital copies the originally planned date

The only Yellowcard record I own on vinyl.

Hope I have an opportunity to remedy that with a box set soon.

Update. The fact that their last music comes out in 7 days still sucks.
