I say there’s not enough clown masks.

  2. Is Haunt any good?

Haunt is arguably the best within it's sub-genre of the last few years. It destroys Hell Fest...that's for sure.

I can appreciate it...I like clowns, but fuck.. that mask from the original was so unnerving.

  5. I saw Hell Fest and didn’t love it. I didn’t put a heart on it on my Letterboxd. Haha.

  6. I thought it was middle-of-the-road when it first came out, but rewatched it recently and honestly had a great time. It's not deep, but it's a really fun 80s slasher throwback. I'm also just a sucker for movies with that concept (Hell House, The Houses October built, etc.)

I liked Hell Fest, but Haunt is excellent. One of my favorites in recent memory.

So within the, "haunted house," subgenre.. I've got Hell House LLC, Haunt, The Houses October Built, and Hell Fest. Are there any other good ones?

  9. Those are the big ones in terms of "this fake haunted house is actually haunted and/or filled with killers." I would say stuff like Grave Encounters, 1408, and The House on Haunted Hill (either version) are adjacent in some ways.

Both of the Escape Game movies essentially fit into this genre. Slightly different premise, but ultimately the same.

IMO, Haunt doesn't feel like a straight-to-streaming film like the others. I always recommend it to people looking for a horror movie around Halloween. Pretty good acting, cool kills, and good production

I haven't visited this thread in a while, but what are people's thoughts on The Exorcist 2023. Obviously, it would easy to expect a garbage film, but you have to imagine they'd have to have a good script to feel like this is a good idea. Maybe I'm being unrealistically optimistic.

I think the Halloween films are pretty good, but honestly was never a huge fan of that franchise to begin with so I had low expectations

This surprised me when I watched it. I’d never seen a trailer or anything, just read the premise, and I went in fully expecting it to feel low budget, but I was very pleasantly surprised.

Loved Haunt the first watch, not so much on the second.

  17. Sounds wild and fun if they can pull it off. I have faith in Blumhouse!
