Finally completing my discography run over the last two nights and the biggest issue that I think I have is something is off with Notes from an audio engineering perspective - I’m not well versed enough to say what it is exactly - but compared to the other albums, things don’t “feel” as dynamic? The songs are absolutely there, but the “moments” feel washed out in the mix compared to previous albums, which may have been intentional for the nighttime/mixtape style of the record. Biggest moment is the horns of Tonight, they don’t have the punch they should imo

 

I remember hearing the clip of Matty screaming “People” without the instruments and was hoping the song would even be heavier lol. I do love that song though. I’m very interested in whatever they have been working on, this is one of those bands I have complete trust in delivering something immediate, and special. I have vivid memories of the first time I heard a new single, or complete album listen. Not many artists can do that for me.

 

I definitely want to hear more screaming Matty in the future.
