From Riot Fest’s perspective, I get what you’re saying. But if these bands have decided on their own volition that they’re ready to get back together and play shows again, I don’t think riot fest could convince them to wait another year for a little bit more money on their offer. And if you can book a Blink or Op Ivy reunion, you do it.

Yeah I feel like this isn't the year of Op Ivy sadly but would love to be wrong

My bets for Riot 3rd headliner

Wishful thinking: No Doubt or Op Ivy

QOTSA: they played in 2017 and have some summer festival shows in Europe, a co-headline with Faith No More would be dope

Gorillaz: they will play Life Is Beautiful in Las Vegas the same weekend as Riot and was surprised they were not booked for Lolla

I thought QOTSA cancelled those shows.. could be wrong

Gorillaz is def possible if they are playing LIB on Friday, but I don't think daily lineups have been released

They are in between album cycles so this isn't really a guess for this year necessarily but...will this festival ever book Fall Out Boy again? Or are they too...mainstream now?

You are right, both bands cancelled all their 2022 tour.

I know they have said before they dont like nostalgia tours, but its the 15th anniversary of Infinity on High and they released merch for it. And as a Chicago band it would be cool if they play Riot again.

Nah, they’ll probably play again at some point. I mean, weren’t they pretty “mainstream” when they played in 2013? Even as a “reunion?”

I was thinking the same thing. FOB is one of those bands where the set would 100% determine whether it was the highlight of my weekend or a set I skip altogether. And if they were to play a set of their older stuff, it makes sense that it would happen at the big punk festival in their home town.

Also, back to the subject of Paramore— you just reminded me that this is the 15th anniversary of “Riot!”! Idk if RF could convince them to play that, but if they did I’d imagine they’d unquestionably be the headliner

I thought Hayley said they weren't playing "Misery Business" again any time soon

They were popular, but were still thought of as a “rock” act.

Since then, they’ve had almost a decade of intentionally trying to position themselves as a pop band

When they played Riot 2017 I was hoping they played it for the 10th anniversary! Now with Hayley not wanting to play Misery Business anymore I dont think that will happen :(

Yeah and then they stopped playing shows for like four years lol. Technically she kept her word.

but also like… it’s their most popular song. She could just change the lyrics for that one line she doesn’t like

Fall Out Boy would make sense. Pretty sure I remember hearing they were in the mix the year they headlined Wrigley... But dropped out early on in favor of headlining the baseball stadium in their home town.

Maybe Elfman can't headline, but an Oingo Boingo reunion probably could....

That would be fun as fuck.

No Doubt would rule, FOB I would also be fine with

Serious question…does anyone know a GVF fan who isn’t a friend of your dads?

I know of one that's 30 years old, & has been in several pop punk bands for taste of music reference

Murder by Death and Amigo The Devil out, playing Thalia Hall 8/13 + 8/14

That's the trope, but there's a decent chunk of younger kids into them. Or there was a few years back.

Parkway Drive tour (with Hatebreed, TBDM and STYG) is cancelled. I’d assume all openers for that tour are in play

  23. shucks, I had kinda hoped for an Amigo the Devil repeat and I really don't want to schlep to the CT or NJ Ben Folds show just for him haha

they seem to be pretty popular with the younger crowd that's into Palaye Royale and bands like that

Well, I can dream at least. I don't think it's a totally wild thought given that it'd be a reunion after 20+ years of not playing together.
