The Foo Fighters have cancelled all their upcoming tour dates:

It is with great sadness that Foo Fighters confirm the cancellation of all upcoming tour dates in light of the staggering loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins. We’re sorry for and share in the disappointment that we won’t be seeing one another as planned. Instead, let’s take this time to grieve, to heal, to pull our loved ones close, and to appreciate all the music and memories we’ve made together.

Totally understandable. So sad. Hope they find the peace they need.

As a fan, I totally appreciate the timely update. They totally didn’t even have to post anything.

I assumed this would be the case and it would have definitely been weird for them to move ahead with their summer tour. Hope they take all the time they need and, man, just can't imagine how devastating this must be for the band, families and crew.

The music world and the fans have their backs. They can take all the time they need to grieve and heal.

I hope when the day comes and they're ready to march forward, you can bet I'll be in the crowd! Maybe take my 3 boys to see them.

    Might be Spider-Man...

Honestly really sad for Dave. Something that was his avenue for moving on, something of hope, something of meaning after his friend passing is now a similar situation.

Obviously I love all the guys in FF, but it really felt like Taylor was the second front man. It was always him and Dave in most interviews, videos, etc. He was the literal backbone of this band.

I’m still so truly shocked at this news. He was so young. He inspired so many. Always seemed like a genuine, down to earth guy. Absolutely gutted.

Like others have said, I hope they take as much time as they can to grieve, and don’t rush anything. RIP Taylor

I'll honestly be very surprised if the Foos ever come back from this. I have no doubt they'll continue to make music, whether separately or together, but I have a feeling it won't be as Foo Fighters.

Not unexpected. They need time. Hope all the band members, crew, family and friends are getting the help they need during this difficult time.

Probably premature to speculate on when or if they'll return, but I doubt Dave is done with releasing music.

I had this same thought. Would be really tough to 'replace' Taylor. There's definitely a world where they are better served taking a different direction.

I'm not sure this will ever feel "real." This is one of those things that I always sort of assumed would be "forever."

Foo Fighters, specifically Dave and Taylor, have been a pretty active part of my life since 1999. I kinda waned on the last two albums but still found myself spinning all of their other records with a certain frequency. And individual songs constantly find their way into playlists on the regular.

The dude is irreplaceable in so many ways. This feels like the end. I'm sure Dave and Co. will continue making music but like others have said... It'll probably be under a different name. Which is fine.

But hot damn, does this suck.

    Aaaachem!

Yeah, I imagine it’ll be Dave drumming in the studio and touring drummers for the duration to avoid the “replacing” of Taylor.

Feeling a LOT of regret about always assuming they'd be around forever. I was talking with a coworker on Friday morning about concerts, and they told me they had tickets to see them in Bend in the fall. I checked, saw it was sold out, and said "I'll catch 'em next time", like I've done a few times over the past decade. And now I'll never have that chance. Not with that band with that lineup. I am absolutely making it a priority to see Dave Grohl live in some capacity if/when he ever chooses to play live music again. My heart just aches for every single member of that band, his wife, and their three children. Dave, Chris, and Nate spent nearly a quarter of a century with that man, on-stage and off. So many lives affected by his passing.

This whole situation has shown me just how fragile life is. Don't take it for granted, and if there's an artist you want to see, you should make an attempt to go see them once. I cherish my concert memories more than almost any other type of memory, and it fills me with sadness knowing the Foo Fighters were not one of them. I hope they take all have the time and space they need to heal and recover from this loss.

I keep imagining some kind of special setup for festivals or benefits or a final tribute show for Taylor or something, where Dave plays kit and sings lead, and they have some good friend fill in on guitar, like Josh Homme or something. after the broken leg and the throne, I’m convinced Dave Grohl can do anything, so I don’t think he’d have a problem doing things that way, but as others have said, it’s hard to imagine them continuing full time without Taylor.

Studio Dave is OK with me. Live is where it’s tricky.

They’ve got enough great songs to do a 20 song set of “greatest hits” ever single night forever so it’s not about material. But they would bust into impromptu covers so often, for no reason other than seeing it on someone’s sign in the crowd, and it’s that spark that I would want in a live show again. As many have said, Taylor was the better angel on Dave’s shoulder for that stuff.

I hope they take their time. But I’ll never miss another Dave Grohl performance in my life in Minneapolis. This is another stark reminder that life is too short.
