Wow I didn't know the premiere was based on a true story either but that makes it hit so much harder (and also seem a lot less out of left field). Really interesting story for them to decide to tackle. I really think these guys could make a really effective satirical horror movie like Jordan Peele is doing

Second episode was great to reestablish the characters and catch us up with what is happening. The Van and Darius stuff was weird as hell in the best way and Paper Boi in European prison was hilarious. Great return

I remember Glover saying in his standup his parents ran a foster home and he grew up around foster kids coming in and out of his house. That probably had a big influence on this episode as well.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

yup and his brother Stephen wrote that episode so that definitely tracks

fwiw I believe the story in the cold open about the town underneath the dam was also based on true events

Haven’t watched it yet but I have to imagine it’s probably about Lake Lanier.

Instantly got bad vibes from Gayle the moment she was shown on screen. Just IMDB’d her and she was Dell from Lovecraft Country and I’m pretty sure that’s why lol

Now that I think about it more, it makes sense to bundle your releases if you’re a multi-faceted artist that also likes the quiet family life. Allows you to concentrate all of the press/promo you have to do to support your releases & then go back into hiding

Yeah I've actually noticed that he likes to release a bunch of things close together so it's cool that he acknowledged that he does that on purpose. I could see him dropping an album when the fourth season airs in the fall

Nice to see him in full "comedian" mode there too, it seems like he's comfortable enough to do that again. For a while I got the impression that when he started being taken more seriously as an artist he tried to repress that a little

The second season has ruined me lmao, I keep expecting every episode of this show to turn horrific or creepy now. I 100% thought we'd see the ghost from the guy's story

This one was really interesting though. I really like how they're tackling "rich" problems for lack of a better word now, it's a great evolution for the show. The Darius subplot was really funny, Earn's story with the rapper was understated but interesting and the Al stuff was great. I do wonder what they're not telling us about Van though, I have a feeling she's gonna get an entire solo episode that reveals what's up with her
