Picked this up on Blu-ray today. Going to try and forget everything that's been said about the movie since it dropped and see how it hits me on second watch. Is the extended cut any better?

Watched this for a second time. It’s stupid fun and evil still didn’t die.

 

Lol I can't help myself! I liked it before reading into it and I want to like it again!

Just hit play, so I'll report back.

 

Each time I watch it, I like it even more.

The flashback stuff is so much better than it has any right being

 

Still think they should just do a total throwback film in that style. Fuck this 20 years later shit lol

 

make a new Halloween 2. The shape appears in a new town on Halloween night 1 year after the events of the first one

 

Imagining a franchise where each new entry is just people thinking they can make a better sequel than the other guys.

 

That’s what Halloween is lmao

 

Yeah, so, I still like this movie. Some of the dialogue and the decision to make people suddenly care about Michael Myers (as opposed to 2018) is straight-up baffling, but...the kills. It totally delivers on Carpenter's "super-slasher" comments. I know people are torn on DGG, but I really enjoy the unique tone and characters he brings to these movies, and if you like what he's doing here (I do), it's easier to ignore some of the clear issues the film has. I think if Halloween Ends can stick the landing (completely up in the air, I know), this will work ever better as a particularly brutal sidestep for the series.

They should run a poll to see who people want to make Halloween II next. Eventually they'll have enough for a box set. The Halloween II Collection.

Oh, idk if I ever reported back - the alternate ending is a toss-up imo. Visually nice, but about as silly as the rest of the film

 

This movie rules. Fuck the haters.

 

The alternate ending wouldn’t have worked at all with Ends taking place 4 years later.

Ok the extended cut is the better version.

Honestly: cut all the Haddonfield Mob bit, and this would be a top tier slasher

 

I saw this three times when it came out. Not sure I’m motivated to see the extended cut unless it’s at least minutely diff/improved

 

I say YES

 

I didn’t really find an improvement in the Extended cut. I’d give it and the theatrical cut a 6/10
