I'm pretty pumped to get the Mario Kart DLC this weekend. I gotta say though, this will be strange getting so much new content for a game I've owned since 2014. By the time the last wave of courses drops, the game will be almost 10 years old... such an odd situation.

 

I’m wrapping up Arceus postgame stuff still but so pumped to finally play breath of the wild here soon!!!

 

It's an interesting situation, because it kind of calls into question what gamers really want. It's long enough to where a sequel feels overdue, but then again, if there's no purpose to putting out a new game other than just putting out a new one, then why not just add onto the old one?

 

Yeah, I agree, but I also felt like this would have been a natural move whenever 8 Deluxe was first released on the Switch in 2017 or even a couple of years ago when the Switch version had been out a few years.

This late into the game, this mainly feels like a consolation to people who have played the game for 8 years (and bought it twice) who won't be getting a sequel anytime soon. It also feels like an incentive to anyone who SOMEHOW hasn't already bought this to just bite the bullet if they were potentially waiting for MK9. Which is all fine, I guess. Just crazy how it worked out. My assumption is that they never anticipated MK8 Deluxe holding so strong 5 years later.

 

I would personally rather have Nintendo Kart at this point.

 

Nintendo's slowly racking up the context for it. Link has a motorcycle, Kirby can inhale a car...

 

Funny how for a while Nintendo was so intent on no sequels without a new spin at the time when people just wanted to play their favorites with meaningful technological leaps and now that those advancements have plateaued to a degree they're gonna be sitting on a single Mario Kart for a decade. Like if any time was ripe for a gimmick it's MK 3 years ago haha.

 

Pretty fun live stream of the new Mario Kart tracks. It looks like a couple of the tracks change course every lap so that's kind of fun.

 

Modracers Nations came out like 10 years ago. Super Mario Maker came out like 6 years ago. Trackmania has a huge community built around custom tracks. Technology exist. Demand exists. Really shocks me Nintendo hasn't come out with Super Mario Kart Maker / Mario Kart 9 / whatever you want to call it.

Im gonna be the weird Jrpg person and say Dragon Quest 11. its a great game to turn off your brain and grind/explore also the story is very comfy, not super serious

That Japanese ninja hideaway level in the new Mario Kart DLC is the most bonkers track I've ever played. Holy shit. lol

I just cannot find anything I like lately. I thought I would like cozy grove or chicory but I just don’t care much for them after a few hours of playing. I feel like I can’t find any games I really enjoy and want to keep playing lately. A lot of them just tire me out pretty quick.

 

Yeah I had the same thing before Elden ring and now after too.

my buddy just texted me saying, essentially, all the games have now been played, and that’s a little how I feel.
