The US: *squabbling over whose fault it really is and trying to make political plays with it*

I feel like I’ve been doomscrolling for two weeks. To be fair, I have. This is all so exhausting

 

What really scares me about the future of warfare though is that the US military is currently investing in training in subterranean warfare, because they understand that's where future infantry fighting will happen.

Advancements in surveillance drones, satellite remote viewing, AI driven autonomous suicide drones, and hypersonic ballistic missiles is going to make the entire surface a no man's land. The future of war is in sewers, subways tunnels, bunkers, ect.

I remember eight years ago, someone I knew asked why I was caring about what was going on in Ukraine then. This is why.

Reading reports that there is fighting currently within the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Fuck i can't even imagine what's that's like.

 

So regarding this — it looks like a fuller tranche of sanctions may come as soon as tomorrow morning.

My understanding is that extreme sanctioning in a moment like this is kind of a divisive idea among people who think and write about this kind of thing, but if some Blue Checks are to be trusted, it will be a swift and decisive and multinational thing. I have no idea what to expect, honestly.
