he can actually do that with smart sanctions, someone posted about it in here.
Something about basically expelling all russian oligarchs from the countries they reside in, including their children, as well as freezing their bank accounts.

 

The most recent sanction round is not very sexy or even surgical, but it’s about as savvy as it could have been, I think. We can’t forget that sanctions exist to exert pressure to influence decisions, not punish to force quick decisions.

You don’t want to go nuclear and risk (for example) an incursion on Kyiv, thus breaking the concept of sanction regimes and all but assuring global conflict. Here, with sanctions at a scale of maybe 4 or 5 out of 10 (and the assumption that Russia will come away from all this with gained territory), you make room for a diplomatic end.

 

Can someone tell me, why do they keep adding these little caveats? “Still sees a chance to avert a major aggression”

I feel like they know it’s gonna be smaller than they’re saying but want to keep the pressure on

 

Invasion’s begun & Ukrainian airspace is closed. A friend who’s looking at air traffic for his work told me there were a handful of craft flying over western Ukraine that made hairpin u-turns. Ukrainian military is installing tanks on runways where they can, to prevent any Russian landing west of DPR/LPR.

I guess we should expect near-total internet outages in Donetsk and Luhansk by tomorrow but idk what else is remotely predictable.
