Ehhhh didn’t really enjoy that. Way too much CGI. Giving me the hobbit trilogy vibes

Looks like The Hobbit/Oz The Great and Powerful. For how much they’re dropping on this, I thought it would be more practical.

I mean, there’s still seven months until it’s out. A lot could be cleaned up CGI-wise.

I didn't really get a lot out of that trailer. I don't have the same criticisms as what's above; I just don't think it really said a lot about what to expect and what it's going for. It seemed like it was more interested in just showing a barrage of expected Middle-Earth denizens than actually selling itself as something to look forward to.

They’re not allowed to use anything related to the films.

    Wait….so no Howard Shore?

Okay, my interest in this was just nuked.

he could probably do new music for this if hired (don’t know about this), but the rights they’re filming off of are specifically cut from what they filmed the other six with. It’s super odd.

gotcha. I knew there were restrictions on the actual Tolkien content they could use but wasn't sure if that extended all the way into the stuff unique to the films. That's a shame.

You’d think Amazon could have pushed some extra cash to get at least one or two scores. The music is one of the most iconic elements of the film franchise.

Exactly what I thought. It’s too bad we never got GDT’s version.

I shall like half of the show half as well as I should like; and I like less than half the show half as well as it deserves.

The problem, for me, isn’t the quality of CGI, it’s the amount of CGI

Well that teaser was pretty rough.

  22. Looks pretty awesome for a teaser, can't wait to see it.

This is your life, are you who you want to be?

From the small number of details given it's still hard not to be discouraged. From the painful and overly clean visuals with CGI to the incorrect casting of elves. They're clearly taking liberties and making this as friendly for US demographics as possible. This honestly looks like a video game trailer.

Yeah, I'm very impressed by the teaser. I was never a massive fan of LotR or the Hobbit, but I'm down for this. Also, if Amazon gets the rights to the other movies, a second season, they'll be able to tie it in a little more.

  25. would love to hear more about the incorrect casting of elves :upside:
