I was going to go to sleep, but I just started listening to Sea Island by Loscil for the first time and I can't turn it off.

I've never heard of Susumu Yokota. What would you recommend?

What'd you think of False Readings On? That last track is just incredible IMO.

such unique ambient music, I think

I listened on the train but it was too noisey - I'll listen again tonight at home and will get back to you

I decided to throw on some Basinski, since I've only ever listened to the Disintegration Loops (one of my favorite records of its kind). I'm listening to 92982, and just ten minutes it's already utterly mesmerizing. It somehow sounds even more organic than Disintegration - in fact, I can't recall hearing something that sounds this raw in some time - and the noises that creep in are lovely.

This is perfect. I need to give it the full treatment soon - headphones, hot tea (or bourbon, haha), candles/incense, dark room. Heh.

    just finished the Eluvium record

    awe is what I felt

I will elaborate throughout the week, but this feels like his best in a long minute - a sort of compendium of all things that make Eluvium magical

I don't know what that sound is from ~15:00-16:00 on 92982.4 but I find it extremely comforting. It almost sounds like a very distorted vacuum cleaner going over carpet. Heh. What's weird is that it's heard at various moments throughout the track but it sounds ominous to me every time except at the point I noted.

I really want to start experimenting with tape loops but I have no idea where to begin. I'd want to be able to record the effect to my computer.
