    hmmm

2021 for me musically was largely made up of ambient, electronic and, more broadly, instrumental music. Found myself, for whatever reasons, less excited about conventional songs and vocals. There were a lot of good albums that didn't stick with me, and almost nothing within the realms of heavy guitar music, which would usually be my default (I kept abreast of new releases but didn't go back to many and returned to old favourites instead). Rather, a lot of the records I listened to were more about providing an atmospheric soundtrack to my day.

I doubt it will be of much interest but it's cool putting these together. There is a lot of great stuff in here.

    In no particular order:

    • io audio recordings - A Guide To Drowning
    • Gi Gi - Lumino Pleco
    • Midwife - Luminol
    • alva noto - HYbr:ID I
    • DJ Seinfeld - Mirrors
    • Chihei Hatakeyama - Void XXIII
    • Subsonic Eye - Nature Of Things
    • Grouper - Shade
    • Koreless - Agor
    • Medio Mutante - Drum Machines & Synthesizers
    • Alex Albrecht - Campfire Stories
    • Ohama - Arts Commons Soundscape, Pt IV Supplemental
    • Owl - Infinite Horizon
    • Wladimir Schall - 42'37''
    • Adeline Hotel - The Cherries Are Speaking
    • A Winged Victory For The Sullen - Invisible Cities
    • Jeff Parker - Forfolks
    • Martin Gore - The Third Chimpanzee (EP)

  10. I probably got some of them from your posts in the weekly release threads! I always look out for them because you tend to call out some really cool pop-leaning stuff that isn't discussed much here. Thank you for that!

Hope you enjoy BBS and BK. Both very hooky.

I dug this record a lot for some reason. I don't really know why but I did. It feels like I've been listening to it forever so I kind of forgot it was this year, too.

I haven't gone through and looked really closely in this thread but I haven't seen many people mention it. That just means there was a lot of cool stuff that came out this year!

There’s a few tracks which work for me and I appreciate the sound they’re going for, but I dunno. Nothing is really memorable about it.
