Absolutely baffling to me what WWE has decided to do with NXT, but also completely unsurprising. Not to get too sentimental here, but I can genuinely say that the most fun I've ever had with pro wrestling (and with all of you in this sub, even Drew) was during the NXT TakeOver era.


To be totally clear, just a joke. Drew is good.

 

I’m going to agree with that last bit. NXT was probably my personal favorite era of any wrestling. I never really got into international wrestling and I grew up during the Monday Night Wars era but I’d still put NXT above anything.

I wish I could just hear what Triple H must be thinking. And then to top it all off they did this to him while he is recovering from a heart issue.

 

HHH could start a promotion right now and he’d have no shortage of people wanting to work with him I’m sure

 

HHH and Regal should start one together

 

...or just go to ROH.

 

Truly some Succession level shit

 

The Gargano-Ciampa storyline is maybe my favorite of all time.

 

Bayley winning the title, having to go through Eva Marie, Nia Jax, and ultimately Sasha was my fave wrestling story of all time.

 

No wonder the last two years have been shit.

 

I mean, this is why dropping Regal is a huge mistake. He can walk to the new ROH as a talent scout and on-air GM and basically be the new NXT. And people would flock to it.

 

I don't think the new ROH is gonna be hiring anybody, y'all.

...if it even actually resurfaces in April...

 

The no broken bones thing almost seems worse; if it was just a snap of his forearm it probably heals faster than what Im assuming is a dislocated elbow.

 

The Brooklyn takeovers and the Austin takeover aka Nakamura’s debut are all god tier PPVs

 

I suspected it was gonna be dead. But real odd to debut Braun if they arent planning on coming back at all.

And now WWE just released an entire back office staff that literally ran one of the most successful indie promotions in the world...it just happened to be a WWE product

 

Brooklyn 1 was so good, and Sasha vs Bayley remains my favorite match/moment of any live event I've ever gone to. I think followed closely by the North American title ladder match in NOLA. That match was so fucking fun live in person. (Hardy's return at Mania probably rounds out the top 3)

 

A few weeks recovery!? Have we considered that the Lucha Underground "Fenix is undead" storyline was actually real life?

Agreed. Wrestle Kingdom 10 got me interested in wrestling again after years away from it, Takeover Dallas made me fall in love with wrestling again. I loved NXT to the point where I was and still am confused when people said the weekly show was bad and pointless. There was nearly always good build, good matches, or entertaining storylines. I dropped off NXT before they went to tv, due to constant disappointment of call ups and a few other things. But damn those few years were magical. Lightning in a bottle stuff. That’s now reduced to being an entrance prop to be kicked apart.

 

people would WANT TO flock to it, like myself. but, unless the weekly program is on a channel that 80% of people have access to, no one's gonna watch it. there's a reason why roh is on hiatus. on that same example, that's the reason why nwa powerrr is goin back on youtube for free.
