Don’t think I would feel comfortable going to a show right now, but there are a few towards the end of January I am considering if things are slightly better then.

Yeah, I don't have any shows until Mid-Februrary, but if I had to guess, things will be worse by then then, tbh.

First show I have is the Beths at the end of January and given that New Zealand's borders are closed that seems all but certain to get rescheduled/cancelled

Was supposed to see the Menzingers in Harrisburg on 12/18 but someone in the band got Covid so it got postponed until the beginning of January, and boy does that seem unlikely to happen now...

I’m definitely worried about the TWY tour. I have tickets to the first date luckily but still dope that the tour goes off without issues for them.

My next show is Brian Fallon on Jan 19. I’d be stunned if it happens.

  16. I’m finding it awfully disappointing that neither Gogol Bordello nor the venues for their little New Year’s run are giving fans any options besides attending or losing their money.

There’s no fucking way would I even consider going to Brooklyn Steel on the 1st. Shoulda considered that AXS no-show insurance haha

I'm not saying this is the case here, but I know of venues coercing artists (e.g., "if you try to bail I promise you'll never play here again") into playing shows in the next month despite the artists feeling unsafe currently.

Are there any large scale arena tours currently on the road? Nervous that Kacey is gonna pull the plug in her arena tour in a couple weeks.

Dua Lipa and Tyler the Creator both have arena tours starting in February.

it would at least explain why lcd soundsystem felt comfortable canceling their last few residency shows but more active bands aren’t

  21. And doesn’t big tours lose out on a lot of money if they cancel without the venue’s support? Don’t they lose out on insurance money or something? I feel like I remember hearing that being a thing… So maybe a lot of bands and artists don’t cancel until venues support the decision, like if someone in the band’s camp has covid, that is probably one of the venue’s no-no’s?

I saw Trans-Siberian Orchestra a week before Christmas. I think their tour ends this week.

  24. I’m not sure when these tours begin, but at our arena here in SLC, there’s a Jojo Siwa show in January, and Disney on Ice, Celine Dion, Billie Eilish, John Mayer, and Justin Bieber all in March.

If things don’t start getting better by then, March is gonna be a real bummer here for people.

I wonder about something like Coachella and next spring/summer's festivals. Coachella already hasn't existed since 2019, obviously, and pushed everything back twice to, for now, April 2022. But it brings folks from all over the damn world ...
