Sweet, I found out that they have the black version at my local Barnes and Noble for $30.00 less so I will likely pick that up after work since I'm excited about it lol

I put the Red in my LP120 and honestly I don’t notice any difference. If you’re looking for better sound I think you’re better off upgrading your speakers and just getting a needle on the level of what you have now.

Yeah the Shure cart was $79 when I bought it, and the red is $99 now, so I think they're the same quality. I dig my speakers, Jamo s803s, so I'll probably put off a new cart until possibly a new record player. I love my ATLP120, its been a workhorse since I got it in 2013, but I love the aesthetics of the Fluance and UTurns.

Loving the AT LP60, it's perfect for what I need. Now to find some bluetooth speakers to go with it

I recommend any of the powered options from Audioengine or Kanto if it fits your budget, otherwise the budget Edifiers are known to be good as well.

EDIT: these Kanto SYDs are on sale at a stupid price. $199 with a built in phono preamp, $159 open box deal. I picked them up out of pure curiosity, and to see if it sounds better than the Audioengine A2+ I keep on my desk. The all in one form factor might not be for everyone, but the insides are the same as the YU4s which are still $369.

I said that if you’re getting serious about collecting (which it appeared you are), I’d recommend a better player. I’m not damning anyone for having any player - but TO ME AND MY MIND, it seems crazy to be spending more on albums than your turntable is worth.

    It’s the equivalent of putting $1300 run-flats on a ‘96 Civic.

    Does it work? Totally.
Does it seem worth it? Not to me.

I assume they need to have something reworked with Epitaph and whatever they may still owe them on this record.

I remember reading something about their deal when they pressed Stories and Alibis a few years ago.

The Matches got back the E. Von Dahl record around the same time and finally paid off their account. They subsequently pressed Decomposer and A Band In Hope for their anniversaries. I’m not entirely sure why Epitaph wouldn’t want to press them regardless, nor why the bands wouldn’t be encouraging them to be pressed. There’s money to be made.

What I wouldn't do for a Voices vinyl pressing.

the atlp60 is great, and can sound great with good speakers. I like my 120 but miss the simplicity of the 60 sometimes.

Voices would be very nice. Also wish the matches would re-press their first two albums. I was into vinyl when they released them but couldn’t talk myself into pulling the trigger on a $40 record. At this point of time I would still find that excessive, but would totally pay it.

I would buy Voices instantly. While not as lasting as the first record - still very cool.

I can't even listen to Stories & Alibis anymore. Voices is just such a better record on every level. However, having said that, I realize now it's been way too long since I've listened to their debut, I should probably revisit it.

  21. That first album just has so much nostalgia tied to it for me that I don’t even bother with Voices. Like, I probably haven’t listened to Voices since it came out. Haha.

Voices is definitely the record that I can still listen to today and is musically way beyond the debut. They made such a huge change in sound and people who loved the first album were thrown off and didn’t give it a chance.

I really wasn’t a huge fan of the first album, but when I heard Voices I was blown away and didn’t think it was Matchbook Romance album.

It’s so freakin good, musically/lyrically it blows away the debut…

Fun fact, Shawn the lead singer of The Matches did the artwork for the album.
