It’s all dependent on the crowd and how masked up they are plus the musicians on stage and how careful they are at all times. Julien did a thing on the first leg where she shared the mic each night during the opening acts set with multiple other people and Jeff Rosenstock shows had lots of moshing/close dancing/yelling/etc. and like I said both tours had no COVID (and I saw no reports of any attendees getting COVID either)

Masks work, so if everyone is masked up when moshing or in tight quarters (except for taking a sip and immediately masking back up) then there would be less issues within the crowds.

Seems like people got exposed at the Dikembe show on Friday in Chicago too

Not sure if for sure linked (guitarist in Pet Symmetry/Dowsing), but one of Dikembe’s touring party members is positive too

Getting COVID at all is awful, but getting COVID right before Christmas/New Years and not getting to see family/having to be alone must suck.

I bailed on the two shows I had lined up this past week. One of them wound up getting cancelled because of COVID, anyway. Made me feel a bit better about the situation.

But despite that, we still had a scare. My partner (who got COVID back in September) started feeling achey and stuff. So we panic-bought rapid tests today and they both came back negative. Going to test again on Christmas Eve AM just to be doubly sure but...

Man, I can't imagine getting it this time of year. Stay safe out there, everyone!

I was going to go to that Dikembe show in Flint too. Dodged a bullet.

  6. That's honestly what I liked about it. For a lot of trap shows this is common, but the whole set design and added guitar etc honestly made it not matter, which is hard to pull off.

My boyfriend and three of his friends were at this show and...this is not comforting to me.

I would assume this is obvious, but if you're going to a show (or any place) with hundreds upon hundreds - if not thousands upon thousands - of people, you have to assume the likelihood of COVID being in the room is extremely high. It sucks, but that's just where we are at in this country. People have to make decisions based on what they're comfortable with and hopefully everyone is taking precaution, but it's clear that some are not.

From what I understand, there weren't vax card checks or anything. My housemate who attended tested positive on a rapid tuesday night and on a pcr yesterday (his booster hadnt taken effect yet). Another one of our friends who was also there both nights tested positive this week and was not boosted yet. Boyfriend and I are both boosted/vax'd and have tested negative on rapids several times. I'm awaiting a PCR result just to be on the safe side (I wasn't there!) but like I'm just internally screaming that it's not hard to wear a mask (or two!) at large-scale events like that.

So they cancelled the 27th date... but still have shows on the 29th and 30th, while saying they're still playing that show "later in the year" soooo.... the 28th? NYE?

it’s disgusting seeing Griz tweet about it. Take some responsibility for the event protocols, it was HIS festival that he put on.

Phish and The Strokes both cancelled their NYC shows on NYE. Cityfox Odyssey at Avant Gardner is still planning to go ahead as planned, seems super irresponsible to throw a 27-hr techno/house event for 6,000 people.
