some bitter old white lady who calls her kid a “crackhead” is shaping our nations policy right now.

 

I mean there is a difference. Before there was no vaccine that was readily available so the other measures were the only ones we could take. It's not the only preventative measure we can take now but I'm not in favor of shutting down again. The other thing the government should have done was made testing more available but I think the demand only exceeded the supply recently.

 

But when testing is, generally speaking, difficult to get and expensive that suppresses the demand. The government should have been sending people tests and masks regularly for nearly 2 years now. And I understand we could not have expected much from the Trump administration but for nearly a year now those should have been going out to people monthly. That they're only starting with tests now, after the holidays, and people will only be receiving them while the 5th(!!!) wave peaks is utter incompetence at best.
