Not my fault some people in this thread apparently don't understand how basic math works and so don't understand that a 53/47 senate would be rather different than a 50/50 senate.

I don’t think most people mean both parties are the same literally so we can move on. I used to say this all the time which I just meant what Biden said himself that nothing will fundamentally change with either party but I have stopped saying it after Trump just because we’re like 2 steps away from borderline nazis taking over the Republican Party. But still I get the sentiment and I will continue to “like” your post if you’re in solidarity with me just infuriated at the pathetic democrats.

And? No one is saying the dems are good. Just they are better than the republicans. They wouldn’t forgive your student loan debt either but they would also restrict abortion access, curb LGBT rights, make it even harder to vote…

how can anyone try and claim these are the same????

did Biden say nothing would fundamentally change with either party? Or just with him? I.e. he’d preserve the status quo instead of making things worse

why are you so committed to this? The White House was flipping from Trump to Biden and he said nothing will fundamentally change decipher it how want.

i mean he was talking in a specific context but given there are very obvious differences between what the two parties are done I’m really not sure what else to say

all of that is happening with dems in power though

He's talking federally. These also all happen to be issues that have been historically controlled mostly at the state level, and you'd need a majority on the court to stop said state laws from happening.

Some could theoretically be curbed by federal law, but, again...Manchin and, more concerning to me, a right wing court poised to block federal legislation from doing so.

  12. To be fair, this is more the product of a long-term gameplan, not Dems allowing it.

It’s like this everyone. Remember in 2008 to 2010 when democrats had 60 senators, a majority of the house, and the presidency and they passed sweeping legislation to shore up unions, combats climate change, provide all workers with paid parental leave, raise taxes on the wealthy, shut down Guantanamo Bay, stop endless wars, provide a pathway to citizenship, and fundamentally reform the criminal justice system?

How easily we all forget history and the most transformative administration of our time, which ushered in a decade of Democratic rule.

We voted them into power and they showed us EXACTLY what they stood for. Their list of accomplishments surely speaks louder than any voice in this thread can.

we keep turning out in record numbers and motherfuckers keep saying “if you just vote a little harder next time surely the democrats will govern effectively”

problem is the system is entirely broken and the senate gives disproportionate power to red states as does the electoral college wrt presidential elections and people really think voting harder will undo these and other completely structural failures

Oof I was very close to getting into a real bad accident during my lunch break. I was turning right waiting for the light to turn red for the cross traffic, I saw it turn red and the cars coming to a stop so I start making my turn, the car behind me also making the right turn goes (by this time they must have had the green light for at least 5-10 seconds) and they got smashed into by a by like an F250 who ran the red light, it was so loud and forceful I felt it in my car and thought I was the one who got hit. Both drivers appeared to be alright but their cars are definitely totaled. If our cars flipped spots and I went second that definitely would have been me

Man, ever since shit went back to normal here there’s been so many people who seemed to have forgotten how to drive.

Also the road rage has been insane here in Houston too. So many people shooting at each other in road rage incidents.

it won't undo the failures, but what other option is there?

The more dems in the senate, the more dems you can afford to refuse to vote for important legislation and still get it passed.

Currently we can afford 0. So BBB can't get passed.

If you elected a couple more dems, it quite possibly could get passed. If you don't elect more dems, it will not get passed. Nor will any other useful piece of legislation.

i won't go immediately on green anymore in Denver. Everyone forgot how to drive and I've seen people running red lights almost every time I'm driving.
