Not to direct conversation away from the far more pleasant topic of pizza, but, again, who could have possibly guessed that this would happen if you separated the two bills? I for one am shocked

Psaki's sarcastic comeback about a perfectly reasonable, bare minimum thing to expect the government to do to help keep it's citizens alive unmoored me from giving a fuck about this country and it's government.

I had to believe that a Biden administration couldn't possibly be as bad as a Trump administration, and that underneath all of the noise of modern politics and modern online political discourse, a Biden administration would be making the moves to try to get us out of this pandemic or at least to a safer and more manageable position in dealing with it, and then her comment about tests put a bullet in the head of that idea.

It's not as stupid as the leader of our country pulling wildly unscientific and unsafe things like injecting bleach to kill the virus straight out of his ass and saying them out loud on television, but it is much fucking closer to that than I want to be with 800,000 people dead and counting heading into a winter where Delta, Omicron and the flu are getting ready to tag team us.

Sending out free test kits is such a no brainer and is such a minor and easy step that would ideally come first before the other, much more difficult and complex steps, and her comment showed just how badly we are STILL fucking up the basics in our response to this thing. The American response to COVID-19 has been just an absolute orgy of incompetence and ineptitude, and every time you try to hope that maybe, just maybe, we are turning the corner the slightest bit on this, you get another "wHaT dO yOu eXpEcT uS tO Do, JuSt MaIl OuT fReE tEsTs To EvErYoNe?!?!?!?". Fuck me.

Anyways, pizza tastes good in an air fryer.

Pretty much what I expected, and it’s still so much better than what Trump woulda been (or still could be), but it leaves me with zero hope for the future. Not passing the voting rights bill probably ends my faith in anything tangential to good in this country in my lifetime. Gonna spend time with family and friends and local elections.
