Same. I don't even remember the last time I've been this stoked for a TBS album. These guys and Coheed are the model for longevity in this music scene these days

    and a little jingle...

I'd say Anthony Green or Brand New takes that cake, but alright.

plenty of bands have been around as long as, and much longer than, TBS that would fall under the "scene"

JEW and Yellowcard are the go-to scene staples. You could also make an argument for Every Time I Die and Motion City Soundtrack, albeit MCS is more a personal pick but a lot of people still love all of their work. TBS isnt far behind those, but most people fell off around NA and didnt come back.

I just meant in terms of consistently releasing quality music that the fans are invested in and drawing big crowds wherever they go. JEW too. Brand New haven't released an album in 7 years, Yellowcard and MCS haven't been as big in recent years.

MCS yeah ill give you that but YC sell out venues regularly and their 2012 album is considered by many to be their best.

i mean, arent they literally about to break up

anyway the only real scene band that's as popular as they were in their hey day and selling out huge venues is brand new. every other band mentioned is either breaking up or plateau'd/fell back and have been pretty stagnant in terms of fan base growth/hype

that doesnt change the fact that theyve been pretty consistently great for quite a while and very well received by many in the scene

bummer but i get that, they dont seem like your thing. one kinda cool thing is Tucker from Thursday drummed for them for a while, although not on record.

Do or do not, there is no try.

Yeah I'm the same. Music or movies, I'll always make up my own mind. I still read reviews and there's a few writers that I'll trust if I've agreed with them a lot.

I read both reviews and discredited the first one immediately when it later into Pearl Jam.

Sure Pearl Jam have struggled to release a consistently good album in years but each album always has some gems.

If bands are on their 7th album and still bringing a handful of great songs to the table in the digital age then that suits me fine. Would I like a blinder of an album? Certainly but not many bands can once they get to album 7.

Both reviewers do come across as though they were either never fans of the band in the first place or that they can't get over the fact they never released another Tell All Your Friends.

Agree. If someone asked me what sort of music career is like. I'd cite Brand New. They do what they want, when they want and stay relevant.

Also true. Very few bands can eschew the large majority of press and even playing the label/marketing/album cycle game and get away with it.

It's a shame because the Maturing of the digital age should've created the conditions for more bands to do that.

That's the crazy thing about Brand New though, they haven't released an album in 7 years and are drawing the biggest crowds of their careers...BY FAR. All the other bands you mentioned would kill to sell out venues that are half the size of what Brand New have been playing in the last 2-3 years.

I think a big reason Brand New is as big as they are is how different each of their four albums are. They really appeal to a wider range of listeners than some of the other bands that have been mentioned. Also have to consider the continuing hype of a new album (which has been going on since I become a fan ~2010) and the popularity of some of the bands they play with.

Hard to beat Ten or Vs. but Backspacer is great from start to finish and isn't far behind those in my opinion.

I'm ready for this TBS album. Not big on the first single but excited for the other stuff.

I think one of the best things about PJ is that you are always finding new diamonds within their discog.
I've recently gotten really into No Code which I never gave the time of day to before. Personally Im a Ten and Vitalogy man.

I've loved the 3 I've heard from this so far. Been listening to Happiness on repeat this week to gear up for it.
