  1. Meanwhile I made some great scores at a used record shop today. Sucks for bands that they can't get their shit pressed but plenty of great records out there for the test of us

Newbury Comics is running a 20% off sale on all vinyl today and tomorrow (in store and online). Trying not to spend too much on vinyl lately, but I may have to grab a few things from them this weekend.

Some days I feel like I should cash out and sell my entire collection.

My discog estimate says anywhere from 9-27k.

We reach for the longest shadow

Sometimes I see $$$ then remember this is really the most tangible way to share music with my kids, so I can't bring myself to do it.

They'll probably sell it to a pawn shop when I die, but that's on them, not me, haha.

EDIT: easier for me to say though, I'm only looking at $2k-$6k.

unfortunately been having this feeling as well. I just have no idea where I’d even start or how. Is discogs the best option?

discogs has been great for me personally. I started selling on there a bit over a week ago (only selling in the US due to international shipping being insane these days) and have already made my money back and then some. Just do every transaction with paypal and you should be good to go. They make shipping super easy too.

  16. If my wife wouldn't be offended (she bought me a U-Turn and has gifted me with a few of our records) I'd probably get rid of them all, haha, but I also keep buying more, soooo yeah...

I am in a similar spot now, especially since my wife and I are in the midst of family planning. Very tempted to thin out my collection.

I'm glad I don't have my collection in Discogs simply so I don't have to know how much money might be on the table. Haha

Discogs is pretty great for buying and selling records, compared to Ebay at least. It might take a while to find buyers, but if people are looking for specific pressings and variations it's so much easier to find them on Discogs.

Yeah it is dangerous having the collection in Discogs, especially when you look at individual album price history. It's like watching stocks go up and down. I definitely have my favorites that I bought "low" and the price jumped like crazy. Not that I buy an album as a financial investment but in my mind it helps to justify the purchases, even if my wife disagrees...

I’ve loved collecting over the years. I have around 475. I’ve sold a lot over the last two years, but I bought a lot with the sales money. Discogs has been super easy to sell.

Seeing the value of my collection is tough. I live in an apartment, lease my car, and have outstanding student loans. My collection is a big asset but if I had that as cash it could really help me out in the long term.

$31k on the max end is very tempting for someone with a wedding next year, AKA me.

If it were ever to come down to completely thinning it out, I'd still keep all my blink variant records. Which is about 25% of my collection.
