most of the best curb storylines originate from things that sound miserable/would suck though. i agree this storyline isn’t executed the best though.

This season feels really slow for me so far. There were some great moments in the opener but I haven't gotten much beyond a chuckle since then. Not sure if going to 40-minute episodes is maybe part of the issue.

I haven't seen the newest one but the first two episodes are so damn good, definitely much better than the early episodes of last season with the MAGA hat and whatnot. Feels like classic Curb to me.

I agree that the Maria subplot isn't the best but the delivery of "Eat these latkes!" and "Oy vey motherfuckers!" got a good chuckle out of me.

wasn't the second episode only 26 minutes?

The way David delivered "what the fuck?" when the executive said it was illegal to ask if someone is Jewish was a highlight.

They've all been 36-41 mins so far, though I guess most were last season too (and it had some gems, despite not being my favorite overall, so I'm still hopeful for a couple of those)

This was my favorite of the season so far, but I've thoroughly enjoyed all 3 episodes.

Susie and Larry teaming up is good fun. Larry back to being a social assassin to call out the bad middlers

Susie deep down respects Larry for his particular set of skills. That is why she always forgives him.

Because the show has been on so long and has let their characters develop so much, the show can have Jeff give a quick disappointed glance when he hears he has been stuck with Susie because of the Stage Four woman's advice. That and David's immediate dismissal of Ted Danson because of their history. Very few shows are able to get to that point that it can have those moments without having to explain it to the audience.

I think some of my hardest laughs came when Maria Sofia was making the "tape" with Cheryl so I don't really understand the hate on her subplot. Cheryl explaining her acting "choices" to Larry while she gyrates in the background was also pretty gold haha

I think I pointed it out in the thread before but every once in a while you'll see Susie borderline smiling when she's yelling/fighting with Larry. It's very possibly just a character break from Essman but I also like reading it as Susie accidentally letting her hidden fondness for him show

I don't think they mention it in the show, but I wouldn't be surprised if the unofficial history is that Larry knew Susie before Jeff, which would explain why she puts up with one of Jeff's clients being so integrated into their lives. After all, Larry barely works so Jeff doesn't have much to do as his manager.

Personally I think this season has started stronger than both of the last two seasons (and I loved both of the last two seasons).

My only complaint with Episode 3 was it was a bit too light on Leon.

I thought the first episode was pretty rough but have liked the last two quite a bit. Agree with Maria subplot being pretty weak

This season has been fine. Enjoyable as usual, but nowhere near the highs of classic Curb.

The quirks/annoyances to me this year seem to be uninspired though (walking into windows, plopper, slamming doors, the toilet seat, the middler, etc) and the story line with the daughter hasn't really been that redeeming.

I thought the middler concept was pretty good tbh

The middle concept is great. There are lots of situations where the most interesting people at an event or party get split up and brings everyone else down.

These episodes have been great, and feel more like classic Curb than the last two seasons. Plots are consistently outrageous with this show but the fatwa stuff didn't feel as true to form as Larry pitching a show bound to be a disaster (the coffee shop storyline was good, but not nearly as good as the idea of filming young Larry).

The "Maria Sofia as a bad actress" punchline is admittedly going on long, though I will say the scene where she attacks Cheryl and Ted had me cracking tf up.

Cheryl sitting there in horror trying to coach her through the audition tape is the best thing to come out of the Maria Sofia stuff thus far

Also Larry slamming the door at the mention of Bari Weiss was a hilarious and great subtle touch
