Call it what it is. It’s the College Football Invitational. Minnesota lost to Bowling Green. Mississippi State lost to Memphis. Yet SMU or Houston aren’t included but both ranked in the AP Poll. It’s all ridiculous. This is my only comment on the matter.

I think the biggest fallacy with the CFP committee is that quality wins (rightfully) mean a lot, but “quality losses” don’t penalize you at all and are sometimes even a net gain because SOS.

Alabama’s most impressive wins to date are over 16 Ole Miss, 17 Miss St, and then they have a loss against 14 TAMU

THE Ohio State’s most impressive wins to date are against 20 Minnesota, unranked Penn St, and a drubbing of bad teams, while also losing their top 10 matchup

Cincinnati beat an otherwise top 10 team on the road and have thrashed just about everyone else they’ve played (as expected)

I don’t see the calculus that puts Alabama #2, Ohio St #5, and Cincinnati #6 unless you’re just ignoring the losses or giving a boost because it was a “quality loss”

 

Alabama is Alabama. Cincy should be above OSU though

 

I think both things can be true: Alabama would be pretty heavily favored against Cincinnati or MSU and with a 8 game sample that Alabama has lost one of, the 2021 team has not yet earned a top 2 spot in the rankings

 

Any other team I agree. But it's Alabama. Don't put this energy out in the world Michael. We'll lose!

 

listen I need the CFP committee to put UGA in the playoff if they lose the SEC Championship and I need them to leave Alabama out if they lose the SEC Championship. The worst possible scenario is beating Alabama once and then having to play them again a few weeks later *because they’re Alabama*

Absolutely. Its too early to argue rankings. There's a lot left to go. At this point I completely agree and see why cincy is where they are. They haven't played smu, houston or even ecu or Memphis. Theres 5 teams that remotely matter in that conference (being generous) and they have only played 1 (ucf at home). If cincy takes care of business when they beat smu and Houston in conference champ they get in.

Alabama is out if they lose to Georgia (or anyone else)... Georgia is in no matter what.

Oregon won't win out.

The big10 is getting Michigan state or Ohio state (or Michigan if they beat Ohio state and win the big10 championship). But a possibility of neither.

Stupid oklahoka is the team to watch out for. They snuck out so many games they were supposed to lose, God damn

I think the team thats the worst ranked honestly is oregon. It doesn't get any bigger than at Ohio state, no doubt.... but I believe that lost to under .500 Stanford should negate a bit of that. Plus, like cincy, they've been playing and beating the worst teams of the conference. Its not a great pac and yet they haven't even played utah, usc, oregon st, wash, Arizona state, or wash state

Wins against ucla and Fresno are solid. Im just a "bad loss" should have some impact. They're the only team in the top 12 with a goose egg like that

 

Feel like there’s context missing on the conversation around our stanford loss, our offensive coordinator had to be rushed to Stanford med center for emergency surgery the morning of the game and the offense subsequently was ass and our best player got tossed on a fugazi targeting call

 

I'd rather Oregon than Ohio State or Oklahoma.

 

no 2 loss team has been in the CFP. I think they would put a 1-loss Notre Dame or ACC/Big 12 winner ahead of a 2-loss SEC team that lost the SECCG
