I mean the only album I have actual issues with the production on is Gutter (and I guess Last Night in Town? But that's more just debut budget limits I think, and even then it's fine with having Adam at the wheel)

  4. I think my biggest knock against this is that it’s too long - and I never thought I would say that. I think they could have cut some songs.

Gun to my head if I HAD to pick one song that's the least important to the album it would be sexsexsex but I also had it stuck in my head earlier today so¯\_(ツ)_/¯

is it the same for you? Prestigious

All of their albums are good/great, but From Parts Unknown is the one where the production hurts it for me. Everything sounds so flat and dry compared to their other records, and it doesn't pack the same dynamic punch. There are some great songs buried in there, but they don't hit the same way I know they could/should. I've been doing a discography run and it's definitely the weak spot for me, especially in the run from Gutter Phenomenon-present.

Radical, on the other hand, is giving Low Teens a run for its money. It's more or less everything I wanted it to be (and really sounds great). I don't want to give the band permission by saying that it was worth waiting five years, but I'm really glad that they didn't fuck around with making it anything less than what it is.

  9. I'd rather bare knuckle fight Andy Williams than a cut a single song from this album.

After my first listen I could have maybe been convinced to trim the track list, but after spending a week with this thing there's nothing I would cut. It's incredible that they dropped 16 tracks and it's all good, great, or an all time best for the band.

If I were to concede the most minor of criticisms, it would be that Thing With Feathers and Hostile Architecture don't flow seamlessly back to back and I thing I would have swapped place AWOL and Hostile Architecture. But that is just getting nitpicky.

  13. Not crazy about about sexsexsex, We Go Together, or probably most controversially, Post-Boredom. Like I know the optimistic thing to do is just say “no skips” but at this point we have like 20 years of them doing this general sound — I love them but a batch of 16 tracks is bound to have a couple that wear off quickly

Not to imply there’s not plenty of career highlight material all over the record

People are gonna "thingsthatdidnthappen" me on this, but Post-Boredom was the last song I was listening to at the gym, and the gym was playing Heart Shaped Box when I took my headphones out

Don’t really get the chaotic bit in the middle of we go together. Doesn’t make the song flow very well. The rest of the album is gold

we go together is super clunky. it's not their best but it's passable.
