I think with Michael too his life was shrouded in so much lore and ridiculousness and weirdness that it's easy for people to question the accusations too or even just shrug them off as part of his "crazy" legacy. The vitiligo, his bizarre purchases, his kids faces in masks, the extensive plastic surgery, the question if paternity with the kids, his marriages... like everything in his life was so speculated on and bizarre that people just lump everything in as him being a weird dude and move on.

Look, this guy is a dumbass and there are definitely country musicians like him who give the genre a bad rep just like there are for lots of other genres (hip hop, pop punk, emo, metal, to name a few) but I don’t like the generalizations about country music people like you make in this thread and elsewhere on this website. Especially when there are lots of good country musicians (and musicians influenced by country) out there who don’t get the recognition they deserve because people just assume country = bad republican idiots or some shit like that. The genre is way more than idiots like Travis Tritt.

Isbell, Childers, and Sturgill are also not “the worst”

 

You can type out a massive list of country artists who are not “the worst” just like you can for any genre and that is why generalizations about genres are ridiculous and should be heavily frowned upon on this website, a general music forum.

Ok, maybe my comment was extreme. It just seems like the country artists that aren’t right wingers are a small minority.

 

I treat the thread as a news thread for the subject. I don’t know who readers give a shit about or not.

 

I don’t even listen to country and off the top of my head I can rattle off Jason Isbell, sturgill Simpson, drive by truckers, Lydia loveless, and the chicks, I’m sure there’s a whole shit load more because I seriously don’t listen to the genre whatsoever

 

But why? Someone I don’t care about/already hate did something bad, am I supposed to be outraged? seems like a waste of energy

 

I think you just need to explore the genre more. If your perception of the genre is right wingers then you are not exploring the genre enough. Check out the country music thread on here, for example. There’s lots of good artists being posted in that thread.
