That old man being stabbed scene made me think “wow, he really is a child thinking he’s having fun and trying something different”. It’s absolutely twisted.

I want more wide shots, I want the film to move slower, I want more spots of silence, I want less effects on him, I want normal characters to root for, I want less tropey/goofy monologues, etc. I don’t mind him putting in a little extra work on people if those demands are met.

Every time they take the mask off Michael, I hope its John Carpenter under there.

More than this though - the long stalking/killing shot and the outdoor stuff with cam - come to mind.

the long stalking/killing shot is my favorite part of 2018 but otherwise that movie doesn’t breathe, the editing is awful

the editing still sucks but it works for me when the purpose is pure brutality e.g. the firemen scene

At the end of the day I could forgive this and RZ films if the writing wasn’t so fucking terrible. Anytime I laugh out loud at dialogue unintentionally I’m out, and I stretch my patience for horror films

You cut the corny ass stylized shot of him coming out of the house and slow down those kills a bit and I’m all for it

It would be a DREAM to direct one of these films

for me it’s essentially this: halloween (1978) is unrepeatable, its vibe is isolated to the time and place and the budget with which it is made. the movie that DEFINES it as a franchise, to me, is the og halloween ii, which is far more brutal and sadistic, and that’s why i like my halloween movies mean, nasty, bitter, sometimes even cursed (halloween 5 is the most cursed movie ever made)!

halloween 4 is the exception to this bc it is the only cozy halloween movie. i would love more cozy, warm blanket, cable-knit sweater and a cup of hot cocoa-esque halloween movies but it seems hard to do

I also realize she has ptsd but I REALLY wish this Laurie was a little less crazy old crone and just a normal level of determined af to kill him (a la h20)

The best part of the film is that we don’t hear many “grandmothers” but I giggled when I saw it written in the card

I just remember seeing it with you and S*** when it came out in theaters and thinking it was not great. But it gets talked about so highly now. I own it. Might as well watch it haha.

Zombie's Halloween II is a masterpiece. It would have been interesting to see the proposed third script proceed with Zombie.

When it comes Rob Zombie I thought the devil’s rejects was okay. I feel like that was the most well directed film he has made. Everything I’ve seen from him I haven’t watched more than once. I’m not a fan of the hillbilly, vulgar word in every sentence, characters he writes.

Yeah, I can’t say I’ve enjoyed any of Zombie’s films. I find just about every aspect of his aesthetic grating.
