Tbh I dislike cardio in general. I like dancing and I like walking. Other than that I hate pretty much everything else and prefer to do weights.

i used to hate running soooo much and couldn't run for more than a few minutes at a time. i picked it up as a way to keep moving at the start of the pandemic, just doing a mile at a time every other day building from there. this weekend i'm running my second half marathon! i'm not fast by any means but i'm also not slow and i actually tricked myself into liking it as an activity. i've also been getting into peloton to give my knees a break

You can get good cardio from weights if you are doing big lifts like squats and deadlifts.

Doing more than five reps counts as cardio right?

If they are heavy enough, five is good.

  7. I've had the peloton since may 2020 but decided to get a bench and some dumbells and put a tv out on this three season porch I have. Finishing up the power zone program in the peloton then I'll start doing their weight program

Hit 405 on deadlift, 240 on bench, and 335 on squats all this week. Eating 3000+ calories a day is finally paying off.

Lifting weights and exercising has like completely fixed my sucky back. I have bad posture and get rly tense and despite being under 30 my back was always aching and feeling like it needed to be popped or massaged. I have like zero issues with it now

I wish I could scream this at my friends who have back pain, but they wouldn’t listen anyway. Congrats on getting that all fixed up.

Thanks! Tbh the first sign I can tell I'm not exercising enough is if my back is starting to get tense and sore again. I see so many people normalize discomfort that could be helped by nutrition or exercise. Of course there are legit medical issues too and it's not a blanket fix all, but it can help so much. I also get migraines and those migraines are noticeably more frequent when I haven't been taking my vitamins/supplements, sleeping well, drinking enough water, etc.

I think it's hard as we get older and realize we actually do have to take care of ourselves. It's a big wake up call for sure. College aged me could do all nighters and live off pop tarts and soda. current me would completely shut down lol

This should be emphasized more in this country. Unfortunately we live in a treatment culture where it pays to prescribe pills instead of healthy living. I do think more and more people are coming around to this way of thinking though, partly due to COVID exposing a lot of issues with the underlying health of Americans.

  14. I was two days away from starting a weight routine because I consistently hurt my lower back, but then I hurt my lower back lol. Waiting for it to get better so I can start.

Did my first double-digit mileage run (10 miles exactly) since moving here in May. Getting ready for a half-marathon in just over 3 weeks and had been topping out previously at 6-8 miles. Finally got used to the hills here after coming from somewhere super flat.

I'll be doing an 11-miler this weekend, 12 the next, then a 2-week taper.

If all goes well, I'm going to keep it going and train for a January marathon.

I have a bit of a toxic relationship with my work/personal life at the moment. I’ve been consistently either eating out for lunch/dinner or cancelling gym classes in evening or straight up not even booking/going in order to work.

This has probably went on for about 6 months. I now have a gut you can see in my t shirts and bitch tits!!! I went golfing and someone filmed my shot and I head belly rolls. I’ve never had that in my life.

I have nobody else to blame but myself in this one. However, I have definitely realised that the people surrounding myself with can make it easier. Eg my last place I worked they were all runners/ CrossFit etc. this kept me in check. I don’t have that now, and need to own my shit.

Been waking up at 4:45 the last week or so to go to the gym before work, it’s been a game changer as I actually don’t dread the work day as much lmao

That's the marathon I'm considering signing up for if my half goes well in a few weeks. The timing works well that I can just use the half as my long training run for that week and keep going. It will also help with weight gain during the holidays.

Incredible!! You will definitely be able to pull it off, I hope you the pull the trigger on it!*
*obvi I support everyone’s fitness actualization but I selfishly would love some folks to hang out with while I’m there since I know the people I am visiting in SC have zero interest in being involved with a marathon haha*

I think I'll be able to handle it physically, my long runs have been going surprisingly well, but after planning out what my training schedule would be I just realized I'd have to do my longest run the weekend of Christmas (or early the week after) which might be hard to manage.

Actually just seeing now that my first above-10 mile run is on Xmas day haha. Should be interesting to see how that goes.

Just did four miles this morning with an average time of 6:50/mi. Cannot believe I hit sub-7:00 already. Did not expect that and am thrilled about it
