The actor playing Paulie is two years younger than the actor playing Silvio. They are just throwing it all out there.

Idk reviews look better than I was expecting. at the very least it sounds like it doesn’t fuck the show up and its a story David Chase actually wanted to tell and not a total cash grab

I wonder how long until David Simon brings back The Wire in some form.

It is probably a good thing that the Sopranos learned their lesson about trying to use CGI to recreate actors 20 years ago.

There were a few good moments, but the caricatures of so many of the fully fleshed out characters we watched for years are really rough to stomach.

The big twist will be the talking point for a lot of people, which is so absurd they deserve some credit for pulling off.

I generally don't mind breaks in continuity or timelines, but it is weird that they do it for no apparent reason. Silvio is Tony's childhood friend in the show, but here he is already a bald mafioso while Tony is in elementary school. However, he has no real function in the plot other than to be a goon and for people to point at the screen and say they know him.

Yeah this was a very confusing choice. I loved the physicality of the actor but his voice was a caricature.

Corey Stoll absolutely nailed it though.

Uncle Junior was one of the better ones.

In terms of the returning characters, the one who probably benefits the most from this is Livia. The scene at the school gives her a chance to show a level of humanity and tenderness that the show never really explored. It reminded me of BoJack Horseman's exploration of his mother and the way it shows trauma being passed down over the generations.

I was planning on making a joke about how they forgot about Tony Blundetto even though the fifth season magically inserted him into the lore, but they did sneak in a reference.
