They fixed your brain when you were young.

New songs sound super heavy live. Baritones are in full swing.

3 of 10 songs out 4 months ahead of the release date. Really hoping the album hype doesn't die off before then. If they release songs off the album in spurts of like 4 weeks, I would wonder how their first week sales would be affected.

Wish they had just staggered digital and physical releases since the delay was mostly chalked up to issues with physical.

So dumb. They should just drop it on Oct or Nov digitally

    Composer, but never composed.

two different release dates would fuck with their first week numbers too much

What makes you think today? Release date I saw before was Wednesday.

    Teaser sounds sick btw

Yep, 9/22 my bad. I thought for some reason that the teaser last night meant they were releasing it today but we'll get it wednesday

I went in before realizing this was the closer. Welp.

I get "Casting Such A Thin Shadow" meets Isis (due to the guitar tuning and tones) vibes, and yes that sounded as promising as that description. I got chills when the vocals came in, these sounded angelic which is an interesting contrast to the apocalyptic-esque aforementioned track.

According to a reddit post, two more singles are going to be released, one in late October and the following in December. I hate to say that I'm probably not going to resist listening to all of them, but everything that's been out or teased so far is such a step up from Erase Me that my hype levels are very high.

So literally half the record will be out before January. Wow. Going to try my hardest to just stick with the two I've heard already and not listen to the others. If this album is truly what I think it's going to be, I'm going to try as hard as I can to experience it as 8 new songs, not 5. Wish me luck.

    Thanks for the teaser!

During some YouTube live a couple weeks ago w/ tom delonge, he said something like "this is the way albums are consumed now, you don't release a whole album, you just release the songs one by one."

When the fuck did this happen because I hate it lol? I'm truly curious at how much of a monetary increase there is by following this approach. Is there no other way to promote an album? Is the only to be discovered to appear on as many weekly spotify playlists as possible?

Maybe it's true though. Maybe the 'album fans' are just too much of a minority.

For the size of many bands, yes they have to constantly be feeding out multiple singles if they want a sustained album rollout rather than a one-week or less burst when the album drops. It's unfortunate, but so much of what smaller bands need these days is playlist placement or a hit song

My best guess is they're trying to follow the model set by pop/rap albums where an artist would release a one-off single that would gain a ton of streams and then they'd roll it into the eventual full album release, which would then inherit all the streams that single had obtained. Could be totally off base, but I'd assume it's some sort of logic that the singles collecting a large number of streams prior to release week helps significantly boost the first-week stream count when the full thing drops. I think the first time I noticed something like that happening was Hotline Bling, which I think released quite a few months prior to any album dropping.

New song is great, but not sure why they'd release this as a single before the album release. Doesn't make much sense but boy does this remind me of DTGL/LITSOS oathness

Spoiler: EDIT: Holy, that got HEAVY. Might be the heaviest Underoath we've heard?

PSA - IF YOU'RE ON THE FENCE OF WATING TO HEAR THE FINAL SONG OR NOT:
I would wait. I wish I had waited because it was such a welcome surprise and can imagine this being a great ending to this album. If I could go back, I would wait so that it was fresh for me within the context of the whole album.

Dope track but I honestly agree, it’s not really an obvious single. I love it but feel like it’ll really hit hardest as the album closer.

I don't think it's necessarily that much heavier than what they've done before. I'd say parts of Hallelujah are just as heavy
