Is this a safe space for me to say I haven’t watched any of Flannigan’s work after Gerald’s Game?

  2. Have you been avoiding his stuff? Gerald's Game is probably my least favorite of his.

Yeah, Gerald’s Game is awful. Doctor Sleep and The Haunting of Hill House are great; Hush and Oculus are worth a watch.

  4. Carla Gugino is great in it, so I wouldn't say it's awful, it's just not very good at showcasing Flanagan's strengths, Bly Manor is much better at doing so.

Still need to watch Bly House, will definitely do that before Midnight Mass comes out.

  6. I would say Gerald's Game and Hush were significantly more interesting than Doctor Sleep of the Haunting of shows but I am also not a Flanagan guy

  7. Gerald's Game and Hush are both more straightforward horror-y and have no supernatural elements. Not saying that alone makes them less good, I guess it just comes down to preference.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Director's cut of Doctor Sleep was one of my favourite horror things of the decade

My tracker for trying to enjoy a horror movie or TV show episode each day until Halloween.

9/12: It Comes at Night (Netflix)
    9/13: Malignant (HBO Max)
    9/14: Vampyr (HBO Max)
9/15: Y: The Last Man, episode 1 (Hulu)
9/16: Y: The Last Man, episode 2 (Hulu), The Green Inferno (Netflix)

first, “The Last Man” is awesome but not technically a horror show but has horror elements. Either way, everyone should check it out, it’s great.

tonight’s random selection was The Green Inferno. Bad random selection. Probably haven’t seen all of Eli Roth’s films but still contend that Cabin Fever is his best work. Not a lot to like about this one.

  10. Honestly, Roth is pretty bad outside of Cabin Fever

  11. But also hell yeah, didn't know Vampyr was on HBO Max, I've also been meaning to watch Haxan

The decade part is a massive reach for me, but definitely up there as one of my favorites in the last few years.

Those haunting shows are just not for me. Found them pretty boring. Dig his movies tho

That's where I am at with him. Oculus and Gerald's Game are decent enough. Hush brought me back to horror after falling out with watching movies for a few years. I have tried to watch Hill House multiple times, but have struggled getting passed the first episode.

I own Doctor Sleep, but just haven't watched it.

I guess it's the time of the year where I renew my Shudder subscription.

Any suggestions on what to watch? Be it old, new, classics, shudder originals... Trying to build out my list for the rest of the season.

    Trusted

Messiah of Evil, Caveat, Dolls, Vigilante, Evilspeak, Mausoleum were all ones I watched recently and would recommend. Also heard good things about Vicious Fun, Superhost, and Dave Made a Maze in here I believe.

Carnival of Souls is also on HBO Max for anyone that has that and not Shudder (aka me)

Wasn’t super into Malignant until the reveal and then from there the last thirty minutes were an absolute blast and now I want to watch it again lol
