I think they may get creative and start shifting bands around like you're saying if that happens. Fall Out Boy with Coheed, MCS, Thrice, Circa, etc. would be a wet dream for a certain demo. MM@TA or Beach Bunny would work as acts earlier in the day. And while I'm sure there would be refunds if available... There are a shit-ton of people who would jump on tickets for that. Might actually work in the festival's favor, TBH.

And, to be totally honest? If we wind up losing the Circle Jerks and get Naked Raygun instead? That'd be a huge thumbs up from me. Hah.

I kinda doubt that'll ever happen, but if that were to go down... People would freak. Hah.

Gonna say it again too - Jane's Addiction is available. No Chicago connection beyond Lolla, but it's something, and they have a history with the festival. A stage headlined by Jane's with Coheed, Circa Survive, Living Colour, Fishbone, and Radkey would be incredible actually.

Does anyone know if Joyce Manor will be playing the S/T T their aftershow or only at the festival?

Yeah, it wasnt as exciting as I was expecting. I had a blast with Menzingers, but something was lacking during RA set

I heard from a few people that RA didn't sound good in Chicago, I thought they were incredible when I saw them in CLE. Granted it was a small venue and their first show back

Yeah sorry I just don’t buy the claim. After all these years and all the snafus/reunions that riot fest has prevented any leaks about… and now some random person comes on Facebook with secrets about the festival? I think the people who run the festival are a small, tight crew and all of them know to keep their mouths shut about fest stuff.

I feel like they've hit the point where they are very staunchly in the "gonna play the hits we've played 500+ times prior" territory. And most of those hits are slower, more mid-tempo songs.

I tempered my expectations last time I saw them (with Deftones and Killswitch) and treated it like it was a "big hard rock" show rather than a punk show... And really enjoyed it. But I can see how people wanting to watch a "punk band" might be bummed. If that makes sense.

I definitely hear what you're saying. The only reason I'm giving it any credence is because of how specifically its worded while also being vague (which is what people do when they have info). The "coming on Monday" thing gives me quite a bit of pause, though. If this person is full of it? They're a very talented troll. Haha. Most get waaaay too specific. I'm calling this one at a 25% likelihood of being correct.

FWIW, though, I'm pretty sure there has actually been at least one leak on this very site from various from someone who knew a person in the industry. It was only a band or two but it was someone working with a vendor (or had a friend who did or whatever).

Things can definitely trickle out, regardless. I have a friend who works for a certain publication who will be hosting a major event in a few months. We were talking last night and he slipped up and told me who the headliner was. And it's kind of a big deal as it's a larger artist who will be doing an album play. So yeah, it can definitely happen. LOL

I'm seeing Rise Against for $10 on Sunday, so judging by these reviews I'm expecting great things lmao

That's an interesting though completely correct take in my mind. I feel like a lot of people out on the road are simply toughing it out because there is NO OTHER option for other income at this point. If I were established and in my 40's/50's, there is no way I'd want to gout and deal with all these logistics.

I went last month in NYC and the show was totally fine. Rise Against are polished professionals at this point but definitely cater more to the butt-rock festival crowd at this point.

    Give what you can.

Showing my jaded geezer side here, but at this point I'll be compulsively checking the weather for riot weekend over the band listing. They could just make the poster a giant question mark, and as long as it's in the 70's and not raining, I'm gonna get stoned and cramble around the park all weekend.

Right? I totally get it, but it kinda rubbed me the wrong way when the NIN post was just like "It's not safe. Byeeeee." It feels disrespectful to the artists who literally need to tour to make money. I don't blame them but the messaging has sometimes felt tone deaf.

There's been a shift in some of the recent communications from acts (example, Dashboard postponed their tour today and encouraged people to continue attending shows). So that's nice to see.

But I've seen more tour cancellations because of artists basically saying "Nah, we're still gonna wait" than getting COVID, etc.

I do that every year, TBH. Just checked now and it's looking like partly cloudy on Thursday with an AM rain shower on Friday because of course there's going to be a morning shower on the first day of the festival proper. Temps in the high 70s/low 80s so I'll take it.

Of course, the weather's probably gonna change drastically but y'know...

Yeah they have definitely rounded out their sound from all of their touring. The little transitions between songs and the overall tightness is definitely a different level from the Schmaltz days. They sounded fantastic at Beat Kitchen.

I got one (maybe 2 - will know tonight if my buddy doesn't want one) 3-day tickets for the festival. I paid 170 for each - would like to get that back but would sell it for whatever folks can find on stubhub or whatever. holler if you're interested

Are we still thinking there are any chances for album plays being announced? This has been such a weird year…

Well, Fishbone already kinda confirmed they’re playing an album, so maybe we get them this week?…

Hmm… According to The Flaming Lip’s drummer, they’re playing between Devo and Slipknot

So they are probably headlining roots stage with devo subbing for slipknot? This schedule is gonna be wild, watch there be no metal stage and they are all just spread out randomly. Can’t wait!

I know we've already established this, but it pretty much solidifies Machine Gun Kelly closing a side stage against Slipknot.
