I can see its becoming pointless to continue this conversation. This post is meaningless. Being in a mutually abusive relationship doesnt absolve you of abuse. And the only thing that really matters here is that putting abusers, former or otherwise, on platforms empowers other abusers and that is unequivocally a bad thing.

Also, you keep saying you arent going to bat for him, then discrediting the accusations with your 'websites' bullshit. If you arent going to admit it here, I ask that you at least admit what you are doing to yourself. You probably won't though because it is now clear that this conversation was mostly in bad faith.

lmao sorry dude but when you use phrases like "virtue signalling" and "woke" to accuse someone who is making reasonable points, you've already lost

Right. Again, I know who I am. I'm sorry if I'm not jumping onboard the Fuck Oli train, if something came out today and confirmed this abuse from years ago. I would join right in with you guys. I believe in due process. I respect your level-headedness, and speaking rationally and calmly. Even though, we don't agree you have not been disrespectful to me, I hope I have not been to you. I do not know you either just like you don't know me. Let's just agree to hold ourselves accountable outside of the interent and practice love and acceptance. Much love.

I respect your opinion, I disagree. Have a good day.

  6. I'm not going to sit here and say Oli is a great person. And I'm not going to disagree with everyone else's points. Oli is probably a shitty person who has done shitty things in the past. But do I like Bring Me The Horizon's music? Yes. Does their music help me get through the day and bring me joy throughout the day? Yes. So, no, I am not going to feel like a shitty person for liking a bands music. If you can separate the artist from the art, then cool. if not, also cool. That's how I feel at least.

And this is fine! Nobody is saying you should feel shitty for just listening to music! What you do on your own time is your business and nobody else's!

Just don't log on to a forum and start going to bat for the guy publicly! It's bad, it makes you look like a selfish ass who lacks empathy, and it makes this site a less safe place for survivors of abuse to spend time on. By all means, whatever helps you get through the day, go ahead and do it. But nobody else needs or wants to hear about it, nor should public praise or support be heaped on someone who by all accounts has never actually expressed any remorse for what he's done.

All anyone here is saying is that it's bad to come on here and bump this thread with praise for someone who doesn't deserve it. And to have a little empathy for the people who are potentially harmed as a result of seeing someone like Sykes be praised despite the people doing the praising knowing full well what he's accused of.

There are soooooo many amazing artists and musicians to support and spend your time and money on. Instead of reaching for reasons to support an abuser...maybe accept that he’s problematic and move onto a new band...?

I agree with this. But I personally don’t like the argument of “do what you want in your private life.” I would just feel guilty af listening to BN or other problematic artists. I wouldn’t be able to think, “well at least nobody knows”. Idk.

I don't care who listens to Bring Me The Horizon or any other band with abusers in it. That's your own business and everyone has their own lines. Just don't force your line on me or other people by defending abusers in a public space. That's all. It shouldn't be so hard to agree on that.

Hey, neither would I, which is why I don't listen to Br*nd N*w or P*ngr*v* or other similar artists anymore. But I recognize that not everybody feels that way. I just don't want people making this site, or any other public space, less safe for survivors of abuse. Someone privately listening to BMTH because the music helps them in some way doesn't harm anyone else.

These are both fair points. If I come across like I'm trying to force my line on you, I apologize. I understand that people feel connected to music on different levels and that if it's problematic for ones self that it's totally okay to draw a line whenever. I'm all for the individual. I think we both got heated there for a minute and I'm sure you're a good person. At the end of the day, I do agree with your last two statements. I also do not listen to BN, and PG for the same reasons. My line says that there is a difference, yours doesn't...that's okay. I would still curb stomp somebodys ass if I ever found out they hurt someone I love, no matter if the relationship was mutually abusive. I learn alot from this community, I do get headstrung, I am an empath, but I certainly did not mean to imply that Oli is innocent. I am a person in recovery myself, I know how much work it took to build my life back up, regain trust, and deal with coocurring disorders I had. Today I try to give back and be socially concious. So if this is personal to me, I apologize. I just don't believe that people cannot change. Have I ever hurt anyone, let alone a woman? No. But do I work with people that have, that have processed it, done their time, and now help other people get their shit together? I do. I do not know if this is the case with Oli. I really don't give a shit about him. I listen to BMTH because I enjoy the music and am not certain about what really went on and from what I've seen I want to believe he changed. If he hasn't, fuck Oli Sykes, I don't spend a dime on BMTH merch anyways, I've never seen them live, and I listen to their music on AppleMusic so I feel like I'm not supporting anyone. I don't have a dog in this fight. I'm just a dude, I get caught up in emotions, and if I was rude to you I apologize. I FEEL Everything. I love this community, and everyone in it, even if sometimes I am frustrated.

    -Much love.

You should listen on Spotify. They have lower streaming royalty rates.

I'll have to check it out. My impression was they have less like indie and punk music? I like that I can find even obscure stuff on Apple Music. Thanks for the reccomendation!

I don't know how Spotify compares content wise. I've never had trouble finding anything. It really comes down to what UI you like more. It was just a joke though - nothing wrong with Apple Music haha

Post Human is supposed to be a trilogy of albums I think?

Amo and Post Human were both very dope. Looking forward to see what they do next.

I heard that a while back but I don’t know if that’s still the plan….? If so, that’s awesome! I like Amo but Post Human is kind of the best of both worlds from them IMO

I heard 4 EPs actually - all of them being somewhere around 8-9 tracks. Each one will be titled "Post Human" something. From the looks of the short teaser on their IG , you see the words "Post Human" flash by a few times.
