Yeah see that's what baffles me. That's the release I can't get into the most. I enjoyed that first EP they released, and the first full-length was alright to my ears but definitely more middling to me, and then their newest I just can't wrap my head around. I'm not even a stranger to super bizarre extreme metal with twisting and bending riffs. My brain just refuses to accept that record. I can't explain it.

I was one week into my freshman year at college and didn't have a car (or know anyone with one yet) so I remember walking like 3 miles to Hastings to buy this the day it came out.

Hey, 1. I use THC vape oil thank you very much, there's totally a huge difference, /s, and 2. thanks to my ADHD, getting high usually actually helps me concentrate on dense releases like that (it's how Karmacipher and Cosmovore sounded so good to my ears and clicked with me) so it's very unusual it isn't helping here.

    That's always the answer.

Except when you accidentally smoke too much that you just fall asleep.

For sure! Not super familiar with stoner metal though actually, come to think of it. I should fix that.

Sleep, Kyuss and Sabbath are all you need.

Probably not true, but that's as far as I've gotten with the subgenre

depends on what all you consider stoner metal i guess. some high on fire, some baroness, stuff like that can lean into it.

I’ve never done drugs a day in my life but stoner metal is pretty badass.

Exactly how I feel with Jinjer. The songs on this album just clicked for me. And Phineas is just damn good metalcore.

Add in Om, monolord, weedeater, electric wizard, acid king, windhand, cough, all them witches, uncle acid and the deadbeats, red fang and even then you're barely scratching the surface

revisited this one when Joey passed away - still a very good & powerful album

still surprises me how something this dark & violent was being played in the radio & cracking the Billboard etc.

As a reference for the leftists who want black metal that caters to their political ideologies, the r/rabm subreddit is a great place to check out left-leaning and antifascist black metal bands, labels, and distros.
