If there’s anything to ruin a mood, it’s being surrounded by 30 gross overly hormonal teenagers. It’s hard to believe I was the same way when I was 15 lmao. Teens really are the grossest. I just try to pretend I don’t hear the shit I hear them say.

I’m still mad at the kid that was able to sneak “Jenna Tolls” by me on Kahoot. That was a new one for me. Their ruined-by-horny brains are way beyond my powers. Luckily, playing call of duty has made me privy to some of the newer ones they may try to sneak by me lol.

but yeah we need good smart people to be teachers please be teachers. And I def get the “I have no patience for kids” argument but you’d all be surprised how much more patience you have for kids than adults. I have very little for adults that should know better but when you remember that 95% of your students have never heard what you’re teaching them and most of the behavioral problems are due to home circumstances they can’t control, it’s easier to deal with. Don’t get me wrong, it is highly annoying when someone keeps talking when you talk or keeps pulling out their phone or etc, but you get used to not letting it excessively annoy you…most of the time.

I majored in nursing because I wanted to help people, realized that I couldn't deal with blood because I was a dumb teenager who didn't consider that, and then I got my bachelor's in IT. I actually mainly focused on networking in college, but learned programming on the job and now it's all I do. Wish I had chosen to major in IT from the beginning because that just gave me an extra semester of loans

I don’t mind kids but I have a brother that’s 16 years younger than me so that’s probably why. He’s a sweet kid too, the kind who told on himself to my mom because he looked up the word boobs on google and felt bad about it. I was laughing hysterically when my mom told me that story I was like Jesus mom you know what I was doing on the computer when I was 12 lol

I went to school for creative writing, then decided to major in elementary education. I write as a “side hustle” now. There are times I regret reaching, but then there’s moments during the day that make it all worth it.

One of the biggest mistakes of my life was attempting to go straight into college right after high school. It was the conventional wisdom to do so, it was all you heard from guidance counselors, teachers, everyone in authority, and it seemed like it was what everyone was doing. I wasn't even remotely ready to be in college at that age / point in time, nor was it a good decision to rack up that kind of debt on something where I had no idea what I was even doing.

After working full time for several years and finally paying off the loans from my one year of college I went back again for nursing. Knew exactly what I was doing and knew and understood all of the financial details of what I was taking out in loans and how much I would ultimately be paying when all was said and done and all that jazz. No regrets from that time whatsoever.

One good thing from my year of college experience back in 2001 though: in between spiking my hair up with gel and trimming my long ass sideburns, I used to fuck around on a site called absolutepunk.net all the time reading about music and talking on the forum!

Oddly enough, this was the main other option I was considering at the time when I went back to school for nursing. I was working at FedEx at the time, and could drive trucks only up to a certain size, and all the tractor trailer drivers would tell me every day to go get my CDL and come work with them.

My dad made good money limo driving and didn't need a CDL. I couldn't imagine driving one of those though lol. Parking would be scary.

Get out of here! I drove for a limo company while I was in nursing school! I mostly drove Lincoln Town Cars and either dropped people off or picked them at at the airport, but I did get to drive one of Escalades or the stretch limos every now and then.

limo driving sounds interesting for sure. probably better then local truck driving or a good alternative if you have a family. im a big geography nerd tho so regional/long haul is appealing

So Connecticut is about to be hit with its first hurricane in about 40 years, praying we don’t lose power, the major utility company is predicting power loss for up to 3 weeks for lots of customers but our town has its own utility and I think it has a good record of keeping power on. Stocked up on plenty of beer and snacks.
